Attendance at Parks this year?

I was wondering about attendance this year at amusement parks nation-wide, with two specific questions;

1. Does it seem like attendance is up or down at your home park this season?

2. Did the tragic incident at Holiday World affect their attendance this season? I know their have been other tragic events this season as well, but I am curious to how Holiday World is doing and I mean no disrespect in bringing up that situation.

I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

Here is an article on attendance in ohio PKI is down and CP is down 7% from last year, doesn't mention anything about SFWoA but if those 2 powerhouse's are down you know they have to be also.

Numbers were down for sure through June, and for a change, I agree it's a weather issue. I know we kept saying, "Maybe we'll go next weekend," but never did.

July has been so much better so far, but after going to CP last Saturday, you can be I have no desire to go back until September. What a freakin' zoo.

It was mostly the weather that has been hurting Six Flags New Orleans' attendance. I don't think the recent accident has impacted attendance in any way. I know that following Saturday it was a madhouse in there and was probably a season record for attendance. Early in the season they had picture perfect weather and attendance was much higher than projected. As far as what I'm told it has rained nearly 50% of the time the park has been open for the season.
Jeff, I was at CP on Tuesday (7-15) and was thinking that the park seemed kind of slow for July. I take it the weekends are a different story. (I live in Nebraska so I don't make it to CP that often)

The weather was ridiculous in Maryland for much of the springtime. I talked to a woman from Seattle who had never seen rain like we had. July has been much better weatherwise. I just visited Hershey last week, and the park was fairly dead on a Thursday, even though it was only cloudy most of the day. We walked onto Roller Soaker, and the rapids ride. I can only imagine that all the wet weather has hurt the parks badly.

I'd definately say weather is a factor in the low attendence especially here in northeast ohio, the summer has been ok weahter wise, but spring was a bit odd especially for the wierd weather we get in this area, it was the coldest wettest spring i can ever remember, i think we had one decent weekend in may. I mean i didnt make it out to a park tuntil laste may or go golfing until june, but I also know the job market isn't to great especially in this area either so I think the combo of the two is the reason why attendence has been down, As for what SLV FEVER said about the park being dead for July, I was there last year the weekend after the 4th of july and most rides were walk on and the ones that were't like MF and raptor were less than a 30 min wait max, and as far as this year I've been going just about once a week usually on fridays but the buisiest Ive seen it this year was a monday in early june so go figure, As for the major parks they'll make it, its the smaller parks that have to make you wonder if they'll survive.
