Astroland, Brooklyn, Cyclone....questions (help)
I just may visit the famous Cyclone for my first time, evening of August 28 or 29 (Tues or Wed). Kind of a "special event" for myself; a side trip. I believe I can manage to get there OK.
Is parking readily available around Astroland?
When I leave the area I will head directly home to MA. I did some research, and found some directions that don't look too difficult (MapsOnUs). Once I get onto I678 north it looks easy, all highway home.
Starting out, though, I have some questions.
From Astroland's address, the directions say to take "Shore parkway" NE to Route 27 East ("Southern parkway") to I678 North. It looks to be about 13 miles.
Can someone tell me what those parkways are like? Real busy, lots of traffic, lots of traffic lights? Speed limits? Divided road? You konw, will it take 45 minutes to go 13 miles? In other words, do you try to avoid those roads and go another way?
I think you can see what I mean, what I would like to be aware of beforehand.
Any help will be sincerely appreciated.

I am not a New Yorker, and I was driven there by a friend, but he dropped me off for the day. I do remember a lot of traffic. It is NY after all. Hope you can get the help you seek.

I don't know how much help this is going to be, but here it goes.......
It is difficult to find parking in Astroland. There is only one actual lot and it's not that big. You can try to find on the street parking, or check and see if the lot for the Aquarium is open. It is a pay lot and i am not sure of the hours. It is only a few blocks down from Astroland on the same side of the street.
As for traffic, 90% of the time you are going to get caught in something and there usually isn't a way around it. It's just the way it is down there, sorry.
