As coasters get taller and taller...

"#2.. 6 min. rides, while they sound like a great idea to us, and aside from the cost factor obviously, capacity becomes a HUGE issue. Now before you say "they can add enough blocks to they can run 9 trains at once" think about this. Do you REALLY want 9 trains with 38 people out on the course when you go down for mechanical reasons?
"

I've got nothing to say on the rest of this thread, but this point is flat out silly. EuroSat and Euro-Mir at Europa each run an excessive amount of trains, (not sure on Mir, but Sat runs 7) and this has never been an issue to my knowledge.

I don't think there's ever such a thing as too many trains on the course, or too high of a capacity, especially at a large park.

Hostyl, and exactly which park is that you run successfully? Perhaps I've not heard of it.

"The only park that I know of ..."

Exactly...you don't know which park thinks which way! No one really does. Unless you're part of a parks executive management you don't know what the thought processes are. What I said was a broad generalization of all good parks. We know they are all vastly different and have their own reasons behind the decisions they make. For instance, I think that when its time for CP to decide on a ride, then I think they will let enthuiasts thoughts/requests/comments weigh-in on their choice. How much does it weigh in - honestly i don't know. I think too that there are numerous other factors that play into that decision as well. Of course GP acceptance is a huge part - they do bring in lots of dollars...but's that just one aspect, a big one granted, but just one of the things they consider. I agree with you that some parks will only take into account what's gonna bring butts in here - those seem to be the parks I enjoy least.

I don't think you're taking into context what Arrow was 10 years ago. They were THE domestic creator of ('then') great coasters. Time passes, new designs emerge and technology advances. Like almost everything 10 years ago...things have improved, people move on to the next best thing. Now it's cheaper to have rides imported, technology has advanced and rides are frankly just better now than 10 years ago. Personally I love arrow and I think their rides are timeless...but then again i'm not a hater.

Chill it with your arrogance.

coasterfreaky, how does one define an 'enthusiast?' Better yet, how does a park define an enthusiast? Any old Joe can say, 'I'm an enthusiast, because I love roller coasters,' but in the end, we are all part of the so called General Public.

Vater, that's pretty easy.

It's really a self-acclamation, but to lay it out for you I would consider an enthusiast just about anyone who is on this site, anyone who pays a lot of attention to what's going on with parks around the world, in their state, in their backyard. I would consider an enthusiast someone who takes lengthy trips to go to a park that they enjoy. One who writes letters to their park about the things they like, don't like. Basically it's a person who's absorbed themselves into the rollercoaster world. You're right, we are the GP, but we're part of the GP who happens to be enthusiasts.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Capacity has almost nothing to do with the number of trains on the track. It is determined by the frequency with which trains can be dispatched from the station and the number of seats on the train. Send out a train every 90 seconds with 32 seats and you will have 1280 riders per hour. Having more trains won't change that. The only way more trains can help capacity is slightly if you keep them stacked :( so you always have one ready to enter the station. Otherwise more trains just give you more people on the track, not more throughput.

If you want to increase capacity try good crews, well designed restraints, separate unloading stations, possibly dual, parallel stations in order from least expensive to most expensive.

As coasters get taller I just wait in line and ride em
