Great article Dawn!

No surprise there. :-) I also heard that they were starting to put these in gyms and some schools. I always said the key to weight loss is finding an "exercise" that is fun and not a "chore".

I disagree with it being hard on the joints though......my muscles and joints feel much more liberated and painless after a few DDR rounds, although sore. :-)

I actually was at the arcade when this reporter was there doing interviews. She talked to me, but I didn't want my name in the paper so I didn't give it. :)

But I have played with the Natalie mentioned in the story a couple of times.

Personally, I'm kinda tired of hearing the weight-loss angle. The truth is that 99.9% of DDR players are in it 'cause it's fun.

Den-I'm kind of tired of hearing about weight issues in general. If I see the "Supersize Me" guy on one more show I'm gonna lose my appetite. Wait, is that the idea? ;)

Dawn - Amen... I just saw the latest TV Guide, and it's got Dr. Phil grinning on the front with two skinny women. The headline is something like, "Dr. Phil shares his weight-loss secrets - it could work for you!" And I thought, SURELY that's been done before 1,000 times! Why do people keep reading this crap?

Seriously, the *only* things you need to know to lose weight are 1) exercise, and 2) eat right (meaning both eating foods that are good for you and controlling portions). It drives me crazy that people will do anything to lose weight except for the right way.

Although I still wanna see "Super Size Me." I am 5'10'', 135 lbs. and I eat McDonalds and other fast food like 4 times a week, at least. :)

Couldn't agree more, Den ... except I think Dr. Phil - somewhere between the pushing of his products and his nepotism - makes some sense when he looks at the emotional side of the problem. The nuts and bolts of weight loss are very simple. The hard part is putting it into action. Fad diets (including Atkins) address the symptom, not the problem.

My friend is starting to play Dance Dance so he can lose some weight. He saw how my other friend has lost about 30 lbs and that made him jealous. He's even contemplating buying a machine(rich kid)!

Chattanooga needs a ITG2 Machine!

I agree Den!

And a lot of them do it in the most unhealthy ways possible.

So we will start seeing DDR machines in schools and gyms.........it would be funny if we started seeing them in fast food places as well, maybe even in the Mickey D's enclosed playland. :-D

-Tina

Tina, up until recently, a local Subway had a DDR machine. I've heard of them in fast-food places elsewhere, too.

Now Jared is going to endorse DDR along with his low-fat subs. ;-)

-Tina

I used to weigh 700 pounds.

Now I weigh 30.

And don't mod this, because it's a sad true part of my life that I accepted. I'm living proof that DDR is better than eating.

i've already justified saving up to buy a Red Octane pad in the name of "excercise." it's cheaper than any home gym, and i won't get sick of it in a week.

S:ROS; SFNE. Ride it, and you'll understand.
I've had people scoff at me when I tell them I've spent about $300 on various metal and soft pads, plus another $100 for DDR games. But I also spent $500 for a NordicTrac eliptical machine, and that thing hardly ever gets used. I play DDR almost every day.

Hey guys I heard about this crazy idea of going outside for a jog.

It's totally free and you get to listen to GOOD music while doing it. =DDDDDDDDDDdddd

Na, I prefer it inside with my DDR and the air conditioning.......heh. ;-)

-Tina

Both jogging and DDR can be murder on the knees of the morbidly obese. They need to start with bicycling or an elliptical machine first and get the quads and hamstrings ready for punishment.

(who finally did a 5K, it wasn't so bad!)

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Welcome to America where we provide segways, fast food at every corner, and the highly popular ab machines that work your abs while you sit down and do nothing.

Enjoy your stay.
