Arrow stand up??!!!

Arrow built stand-ups! This was obtained at www.rcdb.com. Anybody been on one if so, what is the seating arrangement?

Here is a list of all Arrow stand-ups:

Extremeroller (Relocated)
Worlds of Fun

Spiral
Formosa WonderWorld

Im pretty sure that it both were classic Arrow corkscrew coasters retrofitted with 2-across train. I ran into this about a year back. I forget where I saw the pictures.

800,000 years in 7 seconds: Time Machine the movie or next S&S creation?
"So Quoth the Lemon Chill Guy" (TM) (C)

I see no indication that that is a stand-up. Looks like a sit-down corkscrew to me.

My two favorite coasters are named Superman.

Extremeroller was a standup for only one year.

Both the Extremeroller or EXT and the Spiral are the same ride.

back in the early 80's, Worlds of Fun Converted their Arrow Corkscrew into a Stand-up Ride. The forces proved to be too strong, so they quickly did away with the stand up trains and changed the ride back to the old sit-downs. When WOF removed the Extremeroller, they sold it to Formosa WonderWorld where it has been operating with the sit-down train all this time.

There are picts on the net of the Stand Up trains on the WOF coaster, but you will have to go look for them. I guess the park still currently owns those car bodies.

BTW: There was one other Arrow Stand up: Rail Blazer @ Six Flags over Mid-America. It was a retrofit of stand up trains on one side of the River King Mine Train. It was only open in 1984 (the year of the notorious "New Coke") and not even for the entire season. A woman *somehow* fell out of one of the trains and died so they closed the ride and it never reopened. I *saw* the ride, but never saw it running as I went to the park in mid August, after the accident.

Unfortunately, young me isn't familiar with any of the Arrow standups.

To anyone who knows this sort of thing, I'm just curious. What were the restraints like?

Oh and next time - use the search feature. I typed in "Arrow Standup" and the first result on the list was this:

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to ride the Rail Blazer when it was open. This is indeed one time where someone did die on the coaster, actually from falling out of the coaster. If I remember correctly she was too large and the restraints didn't completely latch. Back in the day SFOMA had two mine trains with station right next to each other. The Rail Blazer ran on the side that still exists today at SFStL. The other side is now Big Bad John.
So railblazer was basically a stand up mine train? That's really weird, and doesn't sound so great.

I agree that it doesn't sound too exciting by todays standards, but at the time it was big news in St. Louis. I think that popularity began to wane for the two mine trains (why does a park need two?) and they wanted to spice things up. I'm not exactly sure, but Rail Blazer was definately one of the earliest stand ups ever. So that in and of itself would have helped popularity for that ride and the capital was pretty small. Too bad it didn't work. One other thing, RKMT is one of the worst mine trains I've ridden. It's slow, doesn't do to much and lacks any big thrills (save for the last hill).
