Arrow Looping Coasters

The Tennessee Tornado is not at all smooth. It was horrible headbanging wise. At the top of the loop, you feel this painful jolt. It was very rough!
-------------
Montu is smooth as glass.Ninja at SFOG is as smooth as sandpaper.
I LOVED Carolina Cyclone! But then again I can't remember an Arrow I hated, even though a couple of them need an enema!

Coastersrz, Vortex IS my fav. looper. I have yet to try Viper at SFMM....has to be MUCH better than Shockwave since they put a longer transition into the midcourse!

Accually, Arrow Guy, it's a whole different transition, it's just straight up, rather than turn. Thats thanks to the 180 after the first loop, instead of the 90 like Shockwave and GASM. Because on Shockwave that is the roughest part of the ride (in the front especially) I'd imagine Viper is considerably smoother. That would be nice if I could ride it and find out myself... I've never been west of the Mississippi except for when I was in the Twin Cities once... I need a plane ticket to SoCal NOW!!!

Hey, SFGAm management, can I buy a couple cages of Sky Whirl?
Is it true that B&M designed the trains for Psyclone @ SFMM ? if so maybe they would design the trains for an Arrow coaster, that way it would then be REAL smooth.

Yes, B&M designed the trains for Psyclone but I have heard nothing but negative comments on the train and the ride. From what I remember, that is the only wooden coaster with B&M designed trains.

"The Peoples Elbow" or "The Spinaroonie?. Cant decide which is the most electrifying move in sports entertainment!!! LOL
Well I've come to develop a certain fascination with the older Arrow loopers. Something about the gritty feeling to them, and the way they look.
I can't really place what it is I like... it's just something about them.
EDIT: Post # 300! Yay!

I sort of love the old Arrow Loopers. To me, for some reason, the old Arrow Loopers just feel different from all the other steel coasters I've been on, and I don't mean the roughness on some of them. There's just something about them, like Intamin2k said.
And as for Viper, I've been on Viper more times than I can remember. Viper has it's good and bad days, though I've had more good rides on it than bad. The last ride I had was eventful and rough to say the least. And you're right TrBiggar Viper goes up into the first loop and then does a 180 rather than a sharp 90 degree turn. It's not too rough, yet not too smooth, but it still gives a good ride, at least to me it does.

My current top 5:
1)Goliath 2)Vertical Velocity(SFMW) 3)Medusa(SFMW) 4)Stealth (PGA) 5)Riddler's Revenge

I love Arrow Loopers too.  They brought out the megacoasters.  This is what started all the types of inversions.  I wish there were more out there.
Well for one thing, Arrow loopers have a reckless, out of control feeling to them that smooth -as- jello B&M loopers lack. I like them, no matter what other people say.

Yes it is the only wood coaster with B&M train, but the problem is the trains are HEAVY, that is why it is braked so much like on turns, because when u have the train go flying into turns then the coaster needs constant maintenence, mor then they would like, so they trimmed the coaster.

welcome one and all, y'all come have a ball!
Things a bear-y fine, ridin' on the old knott's bear-y line!

I love Arrow Looping/corkscrew coasters. Rough or not they are still great rides.
Viper at SFMM is definitely one of my favorite coasters ever.  It may be a little rough at times, but nothing can hold a candle to Psyclone at SFMM in the rough department.......
I realize that Psyclone is wood and Viper is steel, but I just think that after riding Psyclone, a person won't ever complain about any other ride being rough again!
Titan Fan, Why is X in your Track Record?
The only Arrow loopers I can remember myself enjoying were Nessie and Drachen Fire at BGW.  All the others I have ridden were either too painful or too boring (corkscrews, loop & corkscrews, etc.)
Well, as a huge Arrow fan, I must say I like the Arrow loopers (save GASM, that was rougher than a street corner @ midnight in Harlem). Admittedly, Arrow left the loopers in a bit of a rut with the pacing of some of the rides. But there is one that really goes against the grain that I would love to ride someday: Dragon Mountain at Marineland. It's kinda like a terrain looper (how often hav you seen B&M do that?)

Arrow loopers feel like the wild rides they are?

I was watching one of my coaster videos the other day and it featured Dragon Mountain.  The ride looked really cool, although a little slow through some spots due to excessive trims.  Still, it looked a LOT more interesting than most standard Arrow multi-elements.
Arrow Loopers set the inversion trend, and I agree they have that gritty, authentic feel that you really don't find in any other steel coasters.  I remember a long, long time ago at Riverside Park (SFNE), before they painted the Black Widow (shuttle looper) with black paint, it was this beautiful white machine and they called it "Loop Coaster".  It was the balls!  The Gs against the OTSR on the reverse run were STRONG, you felt like you were just going to blow the restraint away.  Arrows just give a straight up genuine, aggressive ride  -  real USA!
