Arrow Fishook Up for Grabs?

Now that the Stratosphere Fishook is dead; It would be a great idea if another park bought it since all the homework has been done. That's alot of technology, time, and money waisted. A park could buy it at a serious discount. By the way, Speaking of Arrow; Whatever happened to that megalooper that was to built on a pier in England? Anyone remember?

An After thought....Correct me if I'm wrong. Was there a 500ft version of Fishook as well?

Can anyone tell me what a fishhook is? I have never seen any info or anything other than in forums.

I am not going back to Cedar Point until they throw Mean Streak's brakes into lake Erie. There should be a law against killing coasters like Cedar Fair does.

you mean the millenium roller coaster? at fantasy island. don't know what else your thinking about...

The fishhok is a coaster Arrow had been planning in conjunction with Stratosphere....the locals complained GREATLY, and the last I heard the Stratosphere was trying to negotiate a smaller/quieter/less obtrusive version with the city.

If you search the archives, you'll find that we were talking about this thing over 2, maybe even close to 3 years' ago...my computer programmer (who's a math GEEK), knew about the discussion of a "brachistochrone" (sp?) even before it came up on the coaster boards....apparently, it's interesting to the mathematician community too...;)

Actually, I think they have given up on the Fishhook project and decided to build the Sky Skater Extreme. The City Council has already approved this ride, and I bet it won't take long to get it installed.

They have the concept art for the ride on Screamscape now. Seems frightening to me...

The other Arrow coaster you're referring to (it was originally to be called "The Swine") was cancelled long ago, I believe. Most of the websites that were devoted to it have disappeared, but I did find this: http://www.epicworldleisure.co.uk/

CoasterBob,

Back to your original thought...

Yeah, no, that's not going to happen. The reason the Stratosphere coaster was viable was that they were effectively bolting the ride onto the existing tower AND that it was going to be a pay-per-ride attraction. If a park added it they would first have to build a 1000 foot tower to attach it to (Or design a new support structure for the ride, which would mean more design work and a heck of an expensive structure), plus it would have miserably low capacity for a park setting (1 car per train, only one train on the elevator at a time)
The economics of putting it on the Stratosphere were compelling. Doing it any other way would not be.

I can see it now.....A 300ft fish hook attached to PKI's Eiffel Tower... ;)

A computer animation of the ride is shown briefly in the virtualcoasters.com vidio of the month.
