Are you REALLY a Coaster Enthusiast?

Because you want to poke at the most ridiculous enthusiasts.

why would you be here otherwise?

To make fun of this guy?

I also don't like putting a number on it because I haven't had the luxury of traveling to that many parks.

I don't look at how many coasters one has ridden. I look at how enthusiastic one is about roller coasters. You seem pretty enthusiastic. I'd guess you are a eight or nine.

We need a numerical enthusiast ranking of CoasterBuzz members like the CoasterBuzz 100. It’s imperative that I know where I rank among everyone here.

There is one, and you’ll be happy to know that you come in second, right behind Gonch.
It looks like I have fallen to fifth and I’m shocked and saddened. I thought y’all loved me better.

Will there be badges? Asking for a friend.

I'm 7th!? Do I not amuse you!?

And who is Jay Gast?

Hi

He’s third and we don’t know. He garnered his fame by submitting photos.

I'm 66 now (where did time go?) and still every bit the enthusiast I ever was, even though I don't post here much.

However, age does take its' toll as others have said.

In fact, last year about this time I was wondering if my coaster riding days were over. I was diagnosed with high-grade bladder cancer and it was severe enough I had to have bladder-prostate-lymph node removal and now have a Urostomy bag. Some quick education and research after recovery from surgery proved that coaster riding was still as option as long as precautions were taken. (Empty bag before riding) In some parks that means getting a disability pass but so be it. I try to avoid that.

Now I'm every bit the coaster enthusiast I ever was but it's a hell of a lot easier to marathon something like Millennium Force vs. a coaster like Raptor now. I definitely can't handle the tight inversions as well as I used to. There's nothing I won't ride once but I'm more selective in how often I ride. I'm mostly just glad I can still ride.

I guess I'll chime in since it's a slow day at work.

I am definitely an enthusiast and will definitely "encourage" certain destinations in our travel based on coasters. A lot of it is Disney centric (we were on Oahu for a week, so I insisted that we take an afternoon just to go explore Aulani), but a lot of it is taking a day to hit the nearest park whenever I'm out of town. I am an unabashed creho, but my tolerance for flippy-spinnies is much lower than it used to be.

But, for instance, last summer we were in the DC area and made a day of King's Dominion. Rode everything new-to-me except the S&S free spin. Twisted Timbers mini-marathon with my pre-teen kiddos made it worth every penny and every hassle to be there.

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Again, a little late to the party.

I am not the rider I was when I was....oh let's say a LOT younger...but I still go out of my way to go to parks when I can.

I get excited when I hear of the new "coming next year" or "coming the summer of 23" type of announcements, but honestly, the attraction that I am looking forward to the most is the Byren Curve installation at Knobels...and I can not even guarantee that I will make it out there this year.

Yes, when I travel, I do things near the parks if I'm interested of ig Google Maps gives me any more ideas.

My family is not into it as much as I am and single rider limitations can get in the way at times, but I would score myself a 7.

I skipped that one too. I have no need to get the credit on something that I know will leave me feeling queasy. And now I ponder the question - does leaving a credit on the table like that make me less of an enthusiast?

Less of a human.

Probably, by maybe 7. On the Vater's Scale of How I Track Enthusiasm (****E), which is 0 - 734. So if you're a 612 before your visit to Kings Dominion, for example, you likely would have increased your enthusiast score by 38 by riding all the coasters there, but since you skipped the S&S, you only went up by 31. But maybe you had a slice of Pizza at Victoria's, so that'd probably drop it by 4 since that pizza isn't nearly as good as it used to be. So you're probably looking at either a 643 or 639, thereabouts. Pretty good, but I'm a little disappointed that you skipped it, which just made my ****E score just go up by 4.6.

Edit: man, CB bleeped the acronym. ****ake mushrooms.

I still consider myself an enthusiast although I don't ride and post like I did 20 years ago. As I get older the less excited I get about the whole thing, but I still visit parks when I can. I just don't go out of my way to visit new parks like I used to. Life happens. Other things become more important. Things could always change, though. Also, my body can't tolerate some of them like it used to.

I don't know what that makes me on a scale. Maybe a 6 or 7? It depends on the day I guess. :)
