Are weekends always to be avoided?

Saturdays Are the best for CP...Never crowded..Go then...(rolls eyes)....=)
Sunday mornings are grate at SFOG. The crowds ususally don't arrive before 1:00. If you get there when the gate opens, you can get in 3-4 coasters(w/ re rides) before the crowd hits.
If I do go to a park on a weekend it is on Sunday. Saturdays are OK if I had more time. I look to leave around 6pm if IM at the park when they open because I get tired, and it becomes an over kill. What amazes me is if I do visit large parks on weekends, and the park is busy I then start to realize how much these parks have to offer. Its amazing. From animal shows to parades to shows or nice benches under a tree. However on days where there are almost no people in the park the atmosphere can be lousy. Its just not the same as if the midway where fluttering with guest ready to ride the roller coaster or get a spin the carousel. Or just enjoying themselves.

If I do want to go for power rides I will pick cloudy over cast days with a chance of scattered shows or rain, but no lighting or thunder, and with the exception of no rain till at least noon. Odds are when you get to the park there will be almost no one there unless they had the same idea or had to go because a paid ticket for a bus etc. I find weekdays can be a little less busy.

However during the summer just not as many guest on a weekend, but not by much. With all the people in the world IM sure most of them plan to go on their vacation time, and during the summer it never really lets up. I have gone to some parks on Saturdays, an and it can be down right nasty. Sometimes people forced to park their cars on the grass or in dirt or in reserve parking lots a mile away from the entrance. That is what I do not enjoy about busy days at amusement parks.

Or just waiting 30mins to get something to eat. Or 15 mins to get a soda or 45mins to get into the park or midways crowded to the point where you one can't walk at their own pace, but by the demand of everyone else. At that point I just go home, and try it again on another day. Oh yea lastely the 3 hour wait time for certain rides. For me anything over 40 mins is too long.
