Are Seat Belt necessary?

"I know The Shockwave at SFOT has seat belts on I believe the last two or three seats on the train. Of course this intamin has only lapbars and has two very tall inversions back to back, the back seat you get a bunch of airtime( I love the airtime on it:):):))so I am thinkin' the belts are just a safety precaution in the back cause the amount of airtime!!I love that ride- back seat is the best!!:)"

I'd like to break that quote down a bit but there was only two sentences and both refer to my corrections so here I go...

#1. Shockwave now has seat belts on all rows and has for a few years.

#2. Shockwave is Schwarzkopf, not Intamin.

"Well if you're on Shivering Timber, you will be glad that there is a seatbelt. If there wasn't then you'd be flying out of the car(No joke intended). I don't feel as safe with CCI's restraint system as I do with Intamins, ect.

same thing with Ghostrider although i think it would still be safe without them
They seemed to start installing seat belts on rides after a kid fell out of one of Paramount's Drop Zones.

I don't mind a seat belt (and the extra protection) as long as it doesn't interfere with the ride experience or as long as it doesn't dig 2 inches into my groin (as you know, restraints can sometimes be painful ex. FoF).

Son of Beast is rough...so what? That's the way I like it! *** This post was edited by paladin on 8/5/2001. ***
I have no problem with seat belts. My dad on the other hand does, he is a larger person. As long as the seat belts are large enough that he can get in , it's cool. (at CP and MA the larger seat belts are in the second row of the trains)

I like the seatbelts. Because of them you can get away with leaving extra space in your lapbar (or at least in my experience). You are then still safe, and can get amazing air (Mamba, Timber Wolf & Wild Thing are all good examples).

Hey brandon- sorry- haven't ridden the Shockwave since 99, I was at SFOT on July 26 and did not ride it, I was busy with The Titan. I know that Anton Schwarzkopf was the designer but Intamin was the manufacturer!
