Are rough coasters good or bad?

In your opinion do you think a rough coaster either wood or steel is bad or better for the ride.
Bad!!

But you still have to ride.

If you're skating on thin ice, you may as well tap dance.

It's bad for parks and for humans, particularly if someone associates a type of coaster with pain. For example, "I'll never ride a wood coaster again after riding Hercules."
It's good if it's a poweful ride that only some consider rough. If it comes from poor maintenance or poor design, than forget it!
Generally they are good rides.  The roughness does hamper the ride, but really when you look at Outer Limits is now awesome withought OTSRS, just imagine how awesome rides like Drachen Fire or Viper at SFMM could be with just lap bars.

they are good as long as they have good restraints

-----------------
"It was sure nice of Mr. Crab to give me a job here!" "And he was sure nice to start you off at $50 an hour! When i started, i had to pay Mr. Crab $100 an hour!"

Bad.  There is no reason a coaster has to beat the crap out of you (300 ft Millenium force does not do that, 147 ft wooden American Eagle does not.....)  Its just poor design and maintenance.
It's BAD! ex: Son/Dad of beast

As long as the rough coaster is also fast & exciting, I do not mind the roughness. (Texas Giant, Desperado, Magnum)

But if the rough coaster is also slow and boaring then it is not good. (Mean Streak, Flashback SFMM, Windjammer)

I agree so much with Soggy! There are some rough coasters that are amazing, like Texas Giant. There are some rough coasters that suck big time, like Psyclone. It's really on a case by case basis. I think some rough coasters are awesome! That's why I love wooden coasters.
>i dont think "rough" ever HELPS a coaster. But the amount of roughness depends on whether or not it HAMPERS the ride. If the ride causes PAIN, then it cant be fun. Psyclone and Flashback are 2 that I will NEVER ride because of their roughness. Magnum, desperado, Manhattan Express, Meanstreak, Double Loop, Corkscrew are coasters that I would ride once per visit, but thats it. Of course, on a pay per ride basis($10 manhattan express) I wouldnt ride at all.
