Are MAX2 machines becoming extinct?

I visited my usual DDR spot today with The Cheapest DDR Around™, a MAX2 machine for 50 cents. I was extremely surprised to find that they upgraded to an Extreme machine (also upgraded the price:()

Also last week, I visited another MAX2 spot (which was just upgraded from a 5th mix a month ago) to be surprised with another Extreme machine.

All the MAX2 machines seem to be disappearing, but do you think that it's a bad thing? Extreme has all the same songs...

They aren't disappearing, just being upgraded. The newer, the better, I suppose, but I don't agree. I don't really like Ex as much as I do Max 2, but when and if Ex 2 comes out, expect the same thing that happened to Max 2 to happen to Ex as well.

Whatever brings in the money at the cost of losing a great game, or gaining another is what the people will go for.

Yay. Now we don't have to listen to ****ty songs like The Whistle Song and Stay anymore.

Hehe..well, i still see a few MAX 2's around where i am. Even a couple 5th mixes. EX is still much better than MAX2 i think however. One thing i did like about MAX 2 though, was the machine itself. A brand new MAX 2 came with fans attached to both sides of the machine, offering a cool breeze while playing and after you finish play. =)

Tommy, I'd consider you lucky! All we have here around East Lansing is Max2 (aside from a few 5th machines). I'd love to have Extreme closer than Brighton.

There are Extreme's here and there, but I encounter Max2 more than any other mix, and it has pretty much been that way for the last six months or so.

And the kids love The Whistle Song.

My local movie theater has a MAX2 and I played it yesterday. My local Boomers has a Max2 and an Extreme. I like extreme more than Max2 but they are all good machines.

Of the three MAX2's in my town, two have been upgraded to Extreme. Not that I care, because Extreme has almost all of the songs from MAX2 anyway.

What seems real funny to me is the fact that when we (Tilt, the place of my employment) had our 2nd / 3rd mix combo machine, it made a lot more money than our Max 2 upgrade. In fact, when we get our machine back today or tomorrow, I'll just bet it will be the 2nd / 3rd combo mix again.

3rd mix is probably the worst version ever made, if you ask me. 2nd is better, but not by much. I doubt very much that the mix has anything to do with it, unless you've got a machine on every corner in your town.

I actually liked the 2nd / 3rd mix combo, and I was right - we got our machine back today. Step Step Revolution, here I come! *Grins* More than likely, we'll upgrade the stupid thing again, but I really hope not.

NorCal Kid1, if you're referring to Brendan and Boomers (formally Camelot), Tilt in the mall just got an Max2 (or extreme, too busy to play or even really look). If not, then disregard this whole post...

Rc, which mall are you referring to? Just curious because if it's in San Fran, that might have been our machine. *Goes flat*

I was refering to Vintage Fair Mall in Modesto, Since it has a Boomers, and both Brendan 18 (downtown modesto) and Galaxy 12 (Riverbank) have MAX2 machines. Last time I was there (early feb), the MAX2 at Brendan was in the lobby and not in the arcade, which was funny to me.

As for if it's your machine, it might be since Modesto is only like an hour to two hours away from 'Frisco.
