Anyone ride Villain lately?

I rode it yesterday and when I looked over at the yard where they store all of the old parts for their rides, there were footer forms along with many large flatbed trucks with more of them pulling into the lot. Could this mean a new coaster is on the way finally? I was talking to one employee that worked on the south side and he said it was closing in two weeks with the employees being scattered about the north side. We all know that GL needs a new coaster. And the hyper coaster was approved last year. So, what do you all think?

woah.

I came into this thread expecting a discussion of Villain. :-\

I still don't think I believe it, but I guess we'll see. In any case, let's hope it's not a Morgan (unless it's like PR).

I hope this is true. SFWOA..I mean GL needsa new coaster. My last few visit have been really boring and short. Now that the Animals are gone and guest, I find myself having no lines and a very empty park. I can Finish a day at GL in less than 4hrs and thats including the water park. Not that one new coaster will add much of a difference, but it will give me and others something new and different. So PLEASE let the new rideS or coasterS be GOOD! :) *** Edited 8/10/2004 4:27:26 PM UTC by Alizabeth*** *** Edited 8/10/2004 4:29:01 PM UTC by Alizabeth***

Wait a sec...you're complaining because the park has been empty? Now, I haven't ever been to the park, but I would venture to say that, whether the wildlife side was there or not, I would take advantage of the lack of guests and marathon some of the better coasters at Geauga. I don't know first hand what those are, but I can probably guess which one or two I'd pick...

well i know the city of aurora has a height limit i dont think they are allowed to build over 205 feet
Huh? Dare I say that Geuaga Lake really does not need a new coaster. That place got 5 coasters in 4 years not to mention a new waterpark.

How about bringing back some of those classic flat rides. Rebuild the Circle Swing!

And to answer the original question, yes, I have ridden Villian lately. What's your point?

drummerkid88, in the last year that the park was owned by SF, they did work out a deal with the city to raise the height limit to about 230-250 feet.

I agree that flat rides and some landscaping are a much better investment at this point than a major coaster. Also, let's remember everything we know about the coaster acquisition process. The building of a coaster next year at GL would have to have been initiated by SF probably 2 or 3 years ago. I seriously doubt that SF would allow Cedar Fair to build a coaster they initiated. I would say next year might bring a nice flat or two to GL and waterpark expansion, and if the budget can handle it, lowered gate prices. They need to differentiate themselves from CP and FAST otherwise the empty park that makes for a great day of riding, but spells bad news for continued operation of the park won't change next year.

Honestly, another coaster there would not necessarily bring me back. I need them to improve what they already have, and I'm sure that they want to do the same. The place itself needs a lot of work, as does the staff. A new coaster is not going to help fix what is already wrong, nor will it cover up the problems (contrary to the typical SF mentality). GL still needs to separate itself from being a SF park prior, and truly make it a decent and enjoyable new CF park. A new coaster is not necessarily going to do that.

When I was there in May, 2 coasters were down, food lines were terrible, and I could not find the restrooms easily. If you fix those things, I'll be happy. If you add a new coaster, and the same problems still exist, I probably won't return to the park for quite some time.

And come on though...Villain is still so young. *** Edited 8/10/2004 6:48:51 PM UTC by ltlbat***

I think a few things:

Bill knows GL needs a hyper coaster. But he also knows customer and repeat customer service is number one right now.

Wouldn't be at all suprised to see a coaster go up.

BUT...you mentioned flatbed trucks coming in. Anything on them or were they empty?

There are SOooo many things GL is getting rid of and bringing in right now, it could be a 1000 things.

It could be for the new waterpark expansion, the empty trucks could be to get rid of Hook's Lagoon.

It could be to clear out some of Happy Harbor area of the park that is REALLY run down right now.

They could be moving the Starfish, or Bubble Bee's.

So many things it could be.

I'll check it out tomorrow.

GL does not "need" another coaster.

For one, it already has a great coaster lineup. Not the best, but certainly not shabby.

Two, CF is trying to market the park as a more traditional park.

Three, the coasters that they already have (from what I've heard on the net, so it must be true) are run poorly and poorly maintained.

I went there today and i did see alot of flatbed trucks in the junk yard. I hope this is the hyper!!!

Empty flat bed trucks = new coaster?
arent the trucks supposed to have like...i dont know, say...track and stuff on them? in order for this to be a new coaster? i seriously doubt GL is getting a new coaster.....they have enough issues to work out to get that park back to a profit maker...from what ive seen and heard thru various channels, its not doing too well as far as making money for CF...but i suppose one can be hopeful....

still trying to think of a good signature...

God people here see flatbeds and its like, "OMGZ TEH UBAH EMPTY FLATBEDS BRING TEH 400MPH STAND UP WOODEN INVERTED STRATA COASTER OMGZ!"...

Why not wait until some track pieces or an announcement appears.... and save yourself the meaningless speculization.

I was there today and i did not see any flat bed trucks. I did see four trailers. They appeared to be empty and more than likely they will be used to haul away a lot of that stuff that is sitting over there rusting away. *** Edited 8/13/2004 2:46:16 AM UTC by rolacostaking***

Well, back to reality!

I was there too today, and after a little further inspection of those trucks, those have been there before, during last seasons Fright Fest. My guess is that they have the props for The Haunt and Octoberfest. No footers anywhere in site on the property.

There are 6 covered containers in the employee parking lot. Don't know why though. On the side of them in very little writing it says something about renting. So either they are using them for storage, or got stuff shipped to the park and rented those to hide them. Who knows, lol
