No guarantees but sources tell me Hades may be open.

Chuck. Looking forward to ride reviews but doesn't want people to travel big distances for a unsure thing. Maybe a Local that was going anyway?

I don't know.

I think calling the park before venturing out would make the most sense.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Good call Chitown. Call it anxiousness but the sources were pretty good.

Keep in mind inpections and stuff still had to be approved when I got my info but the coaster was a go running wise.

Chuck, Call the park, I hope it's open for ya.

But, the real question is, can you find the phone number on their website?

The phone number is at rcdb. VF has its opening day this weekend, but if I call and Hades is open, I might have to go there for at least an evening and get some night rides. The only problem is last time I called they said I could not get a season pass till Memorial Day, but I might just go anyway. I probably won't decide for sure till I leave.

Just for the sake of information, what are the politics going on behind the scenes of a wooden coaster opening like Hades?

What are the factors determining when it opens? What are the factors that determine if there will be a "soft opening"?

Testing?
Certification?
Marketing?

I know that media day for Hades is during the week before Memorial Day weekend. I will say that much. I have every intention of being there for media day. I hope to post some kind of review of the ride for everyone sometime later that week. *** Edited 5/12/2005 11:43:32 AM UTC by beast7369***

Hades is open today. I did not find out till about 2 and they close at 6 so it was too late for me to go, but as of right now I am trying to make plans to go tomorrow.

I called the park again after I posted to ask if it would be open tomorrow too. They said they assume so right now but could not promise. The indoor water park is still open till 10 so you might be able to still call for yourself if you want. What they told me was good enough for me, but I know there is a chance I won't get to ride. Coasters are 10-6 tomorrow.

thanks Matt, I will be posting a TR if I do get to ride.

Chuck, you are not telling me to go to hell, are you? :)

Thanks for the tip. I would not have even called otherwise.

I am absolutely dying to hear a report on how awesome this thing is. Between the rediculous first drop, INSANE length and content of the tunnels, rediculous return trip, and overall craziness of the whole layout I can't tell which excites me more. Although I probably won't get up there for a few years, this thing has me excited.

EDIT: If this thing ends up sucking... it will be a huge case of anticipointment. *** Edited 5/15/2005 12:51:53 AM UTC by RollrCoastrCrazy***

I don't know how it could suck. It could be top tier or just pretty good, but how could it suck? (HH comes to mind and I hit myself for thinking that.) It might suck in a few years if it tears up the track, but hopefully it will still be intact tomorrow. ;) *** Edited 5/15/2005 1:15:48 AM UTC by RavenTTD***

Nope, Not telling you to Go to Hell, But I want reports from Hell :)

Early testing, The train was running very slow compared to desing speed. Thats not unusual, Most woodies Valley first runs but Hades didn't.

I just hope it's broke in enough to give the rides it looks capable of.

Chuck, who knows Boss couldn't complete the circut for almost a month reguarly and still has a 10 rider minimum.

The fact that it DID make the first run is probably a testament to how fast it will be later. I can't see something this huge defying physics as much as Avalanche but I'm sure it will have a bit of speed to it. :)
