I suggest a second to last seat ride.
Chuck 155 SOB rides and don't find it near as rough as most people (SAY IT IS)

167 coasters and hopes to be over 200 by the end of 2002 :)

Yeah, I rode it this past summer.  Sure it was rough, but the roughness was nothing compared to The Beasts!  Also, I suppose I waited around 15-20 mintues on both of my rides.  Of course I did go on a Wednesday and Thursday....
ok but what month

Hey Charles had you not quoted Steve I would have had no idea to who you were replying.

74 coasters and counting and I havn't even been born yet

Son of beast is a great ride and so is the regular beast make sure not to miss either one of them.  Waits for SoB are usually not horrendous unless you go on a weekend.  I would say about 30 min on a weekday and an hour probably for the weekend.  Worth the wait though.  I found the front seat to be a little rough but the wind blowing in your face really hard.
sorry man i was tying to clear up what I meant by SOB.  i didnt actually say it  I used a *.

I would suggest you ride in the 1st row of the 4th car, it seems smoothe there.

sarcrasym/ I would have had no clue what you meant by SOB Steve, especially since your post says Son of Beast on it. I've only been riding it since you were barely old enough to cuss on coasterbuzz.  /sarcrasym

Hey Steve sorry for the hard time I am handing to you. SOB made me feel like I was having an anurisym in my brain when I first rode it. I had a headache anyway that day. I got back in line immediatly to ride it again.

no prob, thanks for the info about SOB.  whats the loop like?

I rode it in 2000.  I guess I caught it on a REALLY good day which makes me scared to ride it.  It was August 2000, the fellow standing next to us had ridden it 30-40 times since media day and said it was riding better that day then ever before.  (Especially compared to the spine cracking June rides it was giving) I hope I'm not dissappointed next time.  It was fun, but not that great in my opinion.  Woodies like ST, Ghostrider, etc. just stand a lot higher in my book.

Almost always it's considered the best part of the ride.  It feels like a OTSR free steel Schwarzkopf loop.  It was the saving grace of the ride for me.  The whole ride just lacked the magical "X" factor that rides from different companies (mostly ending in "_CI") can deliver with a wonderful sense of pacing.
Should they get good trains for it (and maybe even add some tunnels) it would be a much superior ride in my opinion.

um, same as any loop on any other coaster?  the wood converts to steel in the loop so its gonna feel like an ordinary (but large) loop.

Are you kidding?  June is prime-time!  (Off-season is more like, say, december!)

i always thought july and august were prime

I'm going to agree that July and August are the busiest times in most parks.
It does not work when I go. I'm not sure if thats a good or bad thing :).

Don't, Don't Don't believe, Don't believe the hype.
A 200 ft drop is always cool. The loop comes out of no where and is great. I was half way through the loop thinking "oh ya, this ride has a loop". The vertical G's at the bottom of the first hill seemed kind of heavy and in a very pleasant way. It may just be my imagination though. I'm looking forward to riding it while I don't have a headache.
