Anybody Rember Palisades Amusement Park?

Maybe somebody will re-make the Beach Boys song "Amusement Parks USA." Especially since it mentions the Flying Turns.

Did anyone else happen to notice something "missing" from the thread title (and presumably, missing from Palisades itself)...

ME! (remember)... ;)

How selfless!

Growing up in Queens, I believe my Mom took my brother and I to this park a couple of times. When I looked at the pics I remembered it. After which, Great Adventure was THE place to go in NJ for years.

I can really date myself by asking anyone here if they remember "Adventures Inn" Amusement Park that was in College Point Queens??

I used to go to that place so often when I was a kid. They had "Jumbo Jets" there and I remember more than once being the only one riding it while my Dad and brother watched me. I know that is where my love for coasters began! :)

I also remember they had actual horses there that you could ride around (by yourself) in this circle 4x for like 5 tickets. I would get on and gallop the poor horse around 4x...it was a blast! I LOVED it!! I believe that is where my love for horses began :)

When the park itself closed (in the mid-late 70's?) I remember most of the rides stayed up for years. I remember driving on the expressway and how sad the skeleton of the haunted house looked and how I longed to ride Jumbo Jets again.

Adventures Inn was forced to closed because the neighbors complained about the noise. Keeping in mind it was RIGHT across the street from a private air field, RIGHT next to the Van Wyck Expressway (or was it the BQE?) RIGHT on a direct flight pattern for LGA, not to mention it was in Queens for goodness sakes, not exactly the quietest place on earth.

Hey Rob Ascough---
Let's go METS!!! ;)

I know The Ramones did a cover of "Palisades Park". I found the lyrics here:
