Supposedly, it was felt in sections of northeastern Pennsylvania.

Saginor said quakes in the Northeast resonate farther than those in the western U.S. due to the hardness of the underlying rock in the region.

"If you were in California and as far away from a 5.5 earthquake as you were in Scranton, you probably wouldn't have felt a thing," he said.

I knew there was something I could blame on the softness of my underlying rock! :)

We just had a 5.9 located south of Palm Springs. Felt strongly here in my office on the west side of Los Angeles (near Santa Monica) but doubt any parks suffered any major damage. Closest water park is Knotts Soak City in Palm Springs (I think that's the closest).

Apparently she doesn't remember the 7.2 Lander Quake of 1992 and the two 6+ quakes that same year, all centered within 40 miles of her and thousands of times stronger. LOL.
