The tower of terror(no relation to the Disney version) at gold reef park in south africa.

This ride looks really interesting, as they use a gold mine tower.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Looks, cool but never even been to South Africa.

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

That ride, the cars, etc. just makes me think of the Mine Train at the end of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Too bad that's the only good part of that movie.
Since Richard Bannister posts on here, and he took at least one of the pictures, I'd wait for a reply from him, or look him up.
If you look closely you'll see that one of the pictures I took is the one that shows it closed for upgrading :(

It closed down about two weeks before I got there, and has been shut for two years or so now. It's supposed to reopen next week though.

I've got provisional plans to return there next year. We'll see.

I love the way that ride looks. Never underestimate the theming potential of heavy-duty industrial structures.
I was on it in august of 2002. It was fun but, the seats were not at all comfortable enough to handle the strong G's and vibrations at the bottom of the drop. I only rode it twice because I was feeling a lot of strain on my neck and back. Since then, I have been on B&M dive coasters and see that the concept is much improved. When I heard that Tower of Terror was being renovated, I'd hoped it was new cars. It's been down so long though, I have to wonder if they are making improvements on the track also. The G's are quite strong. There is a video of this ride on YouTube though.
I never thought to wonder why the ride has been down so long. Anyone know?

I noticed another ride at the park that looks just like a B&M, but is made by giovanola....

Looks like a zerox of a B&M, except it has 2 across seating instead of the typical 4 across seating.

What did you put in search on YouTube to get a video of that ride, RollerCoastin!!!!? I keep getting the ToT in Australia to come up, but not South Africa.

how about a link to that you tube video?
YouTube is having technical issues right now so I'll have to look for it tomorrow. i found it by accident though, i was watching clips from Europa Park and it was there in the column of related videos.
Anaconda is a superb coaster. One of the best inverted coasters out there.

I searched youtube for awhile but couldnt find it. The park's website had a little more info about it. Nice to hear your comment on Anaconda Richard...checking out the pics at RCDB, the layout looks like it was integrated very well with the terrain.

No Kidding? So are Both Goliaths at SFOT and SFMM.

Don't mean to be mean but this is very old and should be well known by a enthusiast.

Yea, but the goliaths are not inverted. And I never even heard of this park before I accidently ran across it on rcdb.

Please don't assume that everyone knows everything. (Not to sound mean of course).:)

The coaster got quite a bit of enthusiast press when it opened... more than I figured a coaster in South Africa would.
I would love to see a video of this ride. I have tried for a long time to find one and have contacted several people about it (including Richard) but no avail. Every time someone was there it was down and so no luck. I too would love to see the video. Please post it to this forum.
I am currently trying to find the video again. I can't remember exactly what ride I was viewing when I found it the first time. It's not listed as tower of terror or gold reef city. It's going to take awhile but, when I do find it, I will post a link.
They also have White Lightnin! :(
