Any Spies for SFGAM?

Was wondering if anyone drives by the park to see whats stirring.  I would go check it out, but its an hour and thirty min. drive for me.  I'm sure nothing is going ot happen for next season, but its fun to hope.
Im not sure if this is anything or if its always been there, but by the employees parking lot I noticed a big cleared space of all dirt on sort of a hill, and there was a crane over there(im not sure if that is still there from Deja Vu or not).  I saw this while on Sky Trek Tower the last day of operation, it probally nothing but you never know. (By the way I took a picture of it just in case but had the flash on the camera on and it reflected off the glass so you can't see anything in the picture)

That area was there in July when I was there. I was told by some people here it is for sound barriers. I doubt it's for anything big, because it probably is sound barriers like people said.

I don't care whats going on there, as long as I can walk in the park next year and find Hay Bayler somewhere! I really miss that little thing!

TrBigga, listen to the people who told you they were sound barriers.  :)

"Words are like...funny...you know?"
From what I've heard from a friend who works in guest relations:

The park took a bit of a beating with the delayed opening of DejaVu. Almost the entire season passed without it being finished. They had to bear the embarrassment of delaying the announced date several times. And this after a HUGE advertising blitz early in the year.

Great America needs to focus on keeping the rides it has working! The EAGLE needs a complete overhaul, POWER DIVE (one of my faves) seemed to have been closed all year, and IRON WOLF is falling apart too.

Don't expect anything substantial new in 2002. Just hope they can keep what they've got.

Iron Wolf falling apart? Doesn't sound like the Iron Wolf I rode. It was far better ride than past years with new restraints, and both days that I was there I did not see it break down once. As far as I can see, it is just like any of the other reliable B&Ms at the park, except rough due to the track design, not wear and tear.

Eagle needing overhaul, I'll agree with that. Stories I heard of it when it was new makes me want to go back in time to 1980 and ride that. It sounds like it was the best wooden coaster in the world, and I love the idea of having those holding brakes at the top of the lift so they could have a fair chance racing.

I hear they're tearing down Shockwave...:)

How I wish that were true...
NO WAY!

Shockwave ROCKS!

Say it ain't so!!!

(sniff..) I love that ride....

I can't think of any reason to. It works fine, it's a great coaster, hmmm...low ridership maybe...Nah!

Shockwave is NOT going anywhere and Iron Wolf is absolutley fine.

Powerdive however, is supposidly on it's way out here soon.

Turns out the last time I rode IRON WOLF was just prior to it's renovations....I thought it looked a bit beat up and rusty that's all....

Dang! What's up with POWER DIVE? It's such a great ride and takes up so little space!

Anyone know what the problem is?

The area across the street...  They've been tearing that up all year.  No clue what it is.  There's been talk for centuries about putting a water park in there, but it hardly is big enough.  I know that they would love to do it, and have been talking about it for a while.  Who knows.

Shockwave...  They've been tearing it down for years.  Still there.  There was rumors about it going to SFKK for a while, but it's still there.

Iron Wolf...  Broke a support earlier this year right out of the first loop.  They had it shut down for a few days.

Raging Bull...  First weekend of Fright Fest they had the Red train all boxed up for the season already.  Didn't seem right 'cause the wait was almost an hour or more long.  Must have been something wrong.

Deja Vu...  Can't run if it's too cold out.

V2...  Doesn't like lightning.  I guess they had some problems with the LIMs late in the season.

Whizzer...  Still a great ride.

Batman...  They took out the on-ride photos (formerly by the police car after the first in-line roll.

Eagle...  Up and Down again.  First weekend of fright fest, red side was working, blue side wasn't.  That may just be a staffing thing.  Last year, a piece apparently fell off the lift somewhere and broke through the roof of the computer shed on the red side.  It was down for quite a while.

Demon...  They actually dyed the water red this year for FF.  I've been waiting for that for years!

Anyway, there you have it...

I think its funny how you all think you know everything about SFGAm.  Especially when it is all speculation, and wrong.

The roughest part of a B&M is having to get off.

SFGRAMBoy20, if you know everything why don't you tell us? Nobody is saying they know anything, everyone is just guessing what will happen. I don't see why you have to be such a know-it-all. If you know everything about Great America, tell us, we'd like to know. Shockwave is a good ride, if they take it out, they better put something better in its place. I love that ride, even though it is a bit rough.

Sorry about the Shockwave comment. This was the first time in the last few years that I hadn't heard the rumor. It just didn't seem like the off season without it! ;)

SFGRAMBoy20 -- How do you know this? Do you know what they will do with the land? Are they replacing them with something? If yes, do you know what they're replacing them with? Can you tell us what they will replace these 2 rides with?

cajun is a ride that has been on the chopping block for a while and the lawsuit just hurt it more. no one rides it anymore because they are too scared of getting hurt, though its been an easy walk on ride for me this year.

I may be from IL, but i sure can't get enough of the FORCE. MF!!!
I don't hate Shockwave, acctually, I love the ride. It's really intense, and I love the g's in the double loops. They have to be close to 4 or 5 in there. Anyways, the reason that I said I wish they take Shockwave down, is because the land it occupies is HUGE. Can you imagine what type of coaster GAm can get there. A floorless, Flying, 4-D, all the newer type of coasters. That land can fit just about any type of coaster. That's why if Shockwave goes, you know there's going to be an even better coaster there. Who knows if that will happen or not, but I just think if GAm gets rid of Shockwave, they can get another main attraction that will take lines away from the rest of the great coasters at the park.

IL MForce Junkie, when did you ride Cajun?  Every time I went this year, that ride was closed and I thought they'd closed it for good because the entrance seemed to be blocked by a high-striker.
