One thing I can definitely remember from the Zombie trip of '02 is that the paths can be very narrow in sections with shops on either side limiting your view ahead. So while you have these huge rides like Texas Giant and Titan that are highly visible from say the parking lot, getting to them is a different story. I seem to remember several dead end sections too. You'd see people start to walk one direction, turn around and head back the other direction due to confusion. I could've given tours by the second day of the trip. Shockwave is located all the way at the back of the park and is almost hidden behind the Oil Rig lookout tower. Judge Roy Scream's entrance is over by kiddie land (to the right when you enter the park). It's not real apparent either. Two more things that could be easily missed that I highly recommend riding are Runaway Mountain, an excellent in the dark coaster, and the Texas Rangers dark boat ride featuring all the Looney Tunes characters in many, many scenes. It's excellent.
As far as Texas goes, there's not a lot to talk about in between the major cities, unless cow ranches are your idea of a good time. If you have a chance to go up to Dallas from Arlington, check out Malibu Speedway and the Adventure Park across the road. They have most of the pay-per-ride attractions all grouped together including the ride where they drop you from 100ft. up into a net below. The name is escaping me right now.
