Any reasons why S&S's 04 coasters are not up & running yet?

Well, I'm obviously not living in California.
Summer just officially started 2 weeks ago, so technically it's not half over.

Hasn't Denise used that "we can't get steel" excuse before?

Word on the street is that she won't be involved with the company much longer.

I told you she was worthless and had little to nothing to do with the business of building roller coasters.

As an industry outsider it sure appears that way.

So you've heard that too, eh Jeff [Putz]?
I never understood S&S's reasoning for hiring her in the first place.

Her connections?
But considering Stan Checketts was/is a highly-respected person in the industry, were there connections that she had that he couldn't establish on his own? Besides, considering her reputation, I would think that he wouldn't want to taint his own by hiring her.

The only thing I don't understand about this thread is how some of you (well, i'll just say the topic starter) is saying that summer is halfway over. Where the hell are you living, dude? Here in Cali, summers just beginning!

Seriously! Here in Socal, we're just now climbing out of our June Gloom. Summer here we come!!! ;)

Moosh- You BETTER know I said all that with a smile on my face! :)

So there IS something called June Gloom? I saw it in the LA Times when we were in CA but I thought that it was just a term that the newspaper made up to describe the never-ending cover of dark clouds. I had no idea it was a real term!

I called Timber Falls and asked if Avalanche is going to be open this weekend. She said, "It should be open by Sunday...maybe."

BTW, it isn't JUST the S&S coasters running late....SFoG's is late too, and quite a few others didn't exactly make opening day either. Just doing a search of coasters "Under Construction" shows that MOST (other than Silver Bullet, Hydra, Little Dipper, and Exp. Everest) were supposed to be OPEN in '04...

Which forces me to wonder, how much does it "cost" the park when a coaster fails to open on time?

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Avalanche is now open. It's rather average in the back seat, but surprisingly good in the front. It's still far from broken in, however.
