Any news on Great Escape?

The buzz is that the Great Escape (just recently purchased by Six Flags) wants to expand and create a new area between Comet and Ghost Town.  This would be great but i know they are already having troubles with the town of Queensbury due to noise and height restrictions.  The alternative is said to be either SF pulling out of the park (bankrupcy) or just shutting it down...

Well, from what i hear they're expannding but with a height limit of 200 ft. So don't expend a hyper/giga, but something. They have been onwed by SF for years. Oh yeah, and they're getting a entrance makeover.

PheonixPhan: They were given the green light in May of 2001 when the 3yr environmental plan was complete.

With this complete & approved, the Great Escape will be expanding in a number of phases for the next 5 or so years to nearly triple yearly attendence. They said that they would spend approximately 20 million per year.

Among the proposals were an on-site hotel, face-lift on the entrance, bridge over Rt9, water/septic replacement, & a convention center. These would be built over the coming years, and along with those would include new rides & attractions.

...so to sum up, they aren't even going to think of pulling out of the park or shutting it down. The park was successful as is with families & tourists in the area, but with the new proposals & the gimmie to expand, they WILL get bigger & better along with a large jump in attendance.

You know, I was just thinking.  Since SFGAdv doesn't seem to want Viper anymore, I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up in Ghost Town.
