Any New/Recent 'Coaster Thrills DVD's Out (Or Ever Coming Out)?

Well I don't know for sure because unless you are them or with them during a video shoot, there is no way of knowing for sure.

But watching some of the recent videos and looking at the photo updates, they are interviewing park personel, ride designers, ride manufacturers, park owners, park PR officials, etc, so from where I sit it would seem like saying they are doing these things without park permission would be a mis-conception. *** Edited 3/16/2006 11:48:42 PM UTC by mrbeanz***

I know for a fact they didn't do any of their Marine World footage with permission, the same goes for the Cedar Fairs park's footage.

If they can rip off the park, can we all just buy one DVD and burn it between the rest of us? ;)

And the picture in my profile, look who is sitting next to me. I had the park's permission. *** Edited 3/17/2006 3:45:47 AM UTC by GoliathKills***

Maybe in the past they were doing things without permission, I don't know, but it sure seems that recently, at least since the Japan DVD I got from them in 2004, everything seems to be with park's permission.

A lot has changed in the past couple of years in regards to enthusiasts behaviors at parks, and if they are now complying with park's requests to abide by rules that were once not as strictly enforced, how can you fault them? If anything, they are now setting a good example.

And seeing how park representatives post on their forums (I've seen Paula posting there recently) they seem to have the respect of the parks management. *** Edited 3/16/2006 11:57:21 PM UTC by mrbeanz***

I don't care for the "Alvey videos" for a few reasons, a couple of which being they are not taken with the park's permission usually and it means you're giving money to Robb Alvey.

GK, what's that in your hands in your profile picture? Looks an awful lot like a handheld video camera, undoubtedly taken on the ride without the parks permission. Hmmmm.

Do you really know FOR A FACT? I seem to remember Al from PGA's PR department being in his 2003 PGA video, and I believe Al is now at SFMW. So if he had Al's permission for PGA, wouldn't he have also gotten Al's permission for his recent SFMW video?

I just think some of you are being a little unfair to someone who seems to be doing nothing wrong but offering good quality videos for the rest of us to enjoy.

Robb...errr, mrbeanz - why refer to yourself in the third person?

Yeah, you'll probably get bumped from the site again, but geez, defend yourself without the trickery. :)

Heh. Only a "moron" would do such a thing! ;)

And I did find out that Alvey had permission at SFMW. If fact, some of his Intamin Impulse footage ended up in SFMW's promotional material for V2.

Funny how everyone thinks he doesn't get permission, yet most of you are viewing his "park approved" footage in TV shows, IAAPA conventions, park's promo material, etc without even knowing it!

It's nice that you want to give money to people who have made it a business to take videos and pictures from on the ride when it is not only taken without the park's permission, but potentially dangerous if the unmounted cameras had been lost during the ride. Not to mention the flaunting of basic safety measures (like the wonderful pictures of "one click" lapbar rides) and you give business to people who give enthisasts a bad name.

One or two click lap bar rides were the norm at many ERTs I attended before the SRM incident. Robb was doing nothing diffrent then a majority of the community. What I find funny is how much you people try to deny that, and place the blame on him. Did you guys attend the Boulder Dash night ERTs? I seem to recall both trains filled with nothing but enthusiasts ridding with 2 clicks. What were they saying over the microphone? If you want 2 clicks dont touch your lap bar. The attendants came by and gave everyone 2 clicks, and I do mean everyone. Im sure alot of you attended the Oc Boulder Fest. PPP was no diffrent, one clicks were allowed for anyone who wanted it on twister. Anyone else rember this, or are you all in denial?

Yeah, but I don't think that's what issue was really all about.

Maybe the best idea would be to just link people who didn't participate the other 20 times we've gone over the Rob Alvey saga, and then close the thread or something. *** Edited 3/17/2006 1:38:53 AM UTC by matt.***

Yes you should close the thread. Because god forbid you find out that Robb Alvey is actually doing some good would totally destroy the lore of him being some vile creature hated by all parks!

Point being, we've done this before, and it wasn't exactly fruitful or interesting the first time.

Rob's a grown man, I'm sure he doesn't need you defending him on a message board who's managment has made it pretty clear he's not welcome.

*shrug*

Yeah, this is the same old pissing match.

Robb (or mrbeanz - who claimed to be Robb under that screen name last summer) is saying he does good for the community - some agree, some don't.

No one seems to know of any commercially available DVD's currently available beyond the old one.

I think that covers it.

Call this one closed. :)

Yeah, because him being banned from half the parks in the country is just our imagination.

Move along.
