Any body miss The King CObra

I missed looking up from Son of Beast and seeing KC broken down on the lift every other cycle.

Just because a train is stopped on the lift doesn't mean it's "broken down." Cobra was notorious for having to be stopped on the lift because I just couldn't seem to get ops who were sent from other rides (or even my own crew sometimes!) to understand that they had to adjust the seats so the rider's feet were touching the floor. I found that King Cobra was quite a lot of fun. Especially the bunny hops before the brakes, which provided enough air that you`re feet left the floor of the cars! King Cobra is my favorite stand-up I`ve riden. It`s far better than Vortex at Paramount`s Carowinds and Mantis. Those rides hurt my legs way too much! But King Cobra, IMO, was smooth, even on the last time I rode it in October 2001!

I really do miss King Cobra. It was a very fun coaster, especialy that helix. The airtime on that thing was outragous and totaly unexpected on my first ride.

The ONLY steel coaster with trick-track...

Well, what about Skyrider at PCWo? =:^)

I actually enjoyed KC. While I may have had a few bad rides on it, the good rides outweighed those by far.

KC was my favorite steel coaster. The airtime had no match. I was almost in tears opening day this past year to see it being torn down.

KC was an awesome addition for its time. And was very nice to watch from Oktoberfest... brats, beers and that noisy loop... And it also fit the theming in Wild Animal Safari nicely... The pathway that led to the Monorail somehow intertwined with the KC queue, adding to the flavor of the area...

I got a few front car rides in '87 in the front car in a real downpour... an awesome effect of the open front car is (was) the full power of the rain and wind pounding against you on your way down into the vertical loop...

Oh, great news Sean....never having gotten to PCW (yet), I was under the (mistaken) impression that SkyRider was more like ShockWave at PKD....

KC was far-and-away my favorite Togo, followed not-so-closely by Viper at SFGAdv.....so you can see how HAPPY I am to know that, should I get to PCW (soon, right?) that I'd get another Togo coaster to add to the list of "Try Once, Go Often"....:)

Working there the last five years I heard many rumors about it leaving each year. So again this year didn't think it was giong anywhere. What a huge suprise coming back in February and seeing it start to come down. It was one of the few coasters there I loved to just ride continously. I loved every aspect of that ride. There was no bad part about it. IMO

I know a lot of the reason PKI tore KC down was because of high maintenance costs, but if so many people miss is why did they? I know people that aren't on here that was devastated to see it go. IMO it was a bad move on PKI's part.

Although it wasn't the best ride in the park, it sure was a lot of fun. The back seat (or post) provided a wicked, fast ride with lots of air time.
Yes, I miss it!
