Any B&M's with Trims?

Correct, but Riddler DOES have a mid-course brake run (see 3 train operation), that has trimmed speed ever so slightly on occasion (depending on weather conditions). Sometimes you go right through it without a hitch, sometimes it trims about 5mph off the speed.

Yes, but LoadedG, that's the mid-course brake run, not a trim. Riddler's Revenge and Batman: The Ride don't have any trims, which I guess is really lucky since almost every other ride at SFMM has trims.

Mantis does on the drop.  And on deja vu (not a B&M)  it looks like every element has trims.

Niel H-

The only trim on DejaVu is the 2 inches that gets trimmed from a 6'8" rider. :-)

Mantis' trims are pretty new, weren't there the first times I rode (and loved) it!  Jeff, I have to disagree with you on this one, some trims IMO hurt the ride some, some not really at all. Just my opinion from my own experiences...

Who cares... it doesn't hurt the rides and it helps keep dispatch intervals right on (with good crews, anyway).

The trims on the B&Ms that I'm familiar with are not used to regulate dispatch intervals.  The trims are used to regulate speed to prevent excess speed through the later elements.  For example, the trim just before the hammerhead on Nitro is controlled by a speed sensor.  When the train is moving slow in the morning it does nothing.  When the trains speed up in the afternoon it trims off a little speed.  This way the ride stays close to design through most of the day without getting too rough.  Since the trim is in the proper location at the bottom of a hill I don't even notice its action.  It's air operated, and you do notice its operation when you are standing by it.

Raptor and Mantis both use the mid-course for this purpose. In fact, I realized two weekends ago that the mid-course if very nearly wide open in two-train operation.

This ridiculous debate in three different topics about the difference between blocks and trims is pointless, because in most cases on B&M rides the blocks are used as trims.

Even more irritating is the notion that any kind of trimming action somehow makes it less of a ride.

Jeff, I agree with you to a point about the existence of trims making it less of a ride. A well-designed coaster (as most B&M's are), shouldnt need trims or at least the trims should be hardly noticeable, as such the case of riddler's revenge and raptor. I enjoy B:TR immensly, because it runs non-stop. Goliath, which is still very fun, makes me a bit upset when it hits the "hard" brakes (This was obviously an error in design, as they promptly added an upward helix to the design, resulting in TITAN). Many other coasters (Revolution and Mean Streak come to mind) arent nearly as fun because they are constantly being slowed, sometimes to a crawl. Slight trims are necessary, yes, but if too many are added to a ride it certainly diminishes its entertainment value. ;-(
