Another Mom doesn't to go to Disney

Lots of moms don't go to Disney...

Good thing they ALL don't feel the need to write a blog about it.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Cute read, but mostly opinion that is based on rhetoric. I think she is trying to go against the grain and stir the pot more than anything else.

I've never seen a kid puke on every ride and based on the lines of kids I see waiting to greet the characters, it doesn't appear that many, or any are terrified.

Yes, every vacation requires planning. Yes, anytime I go anywhere on vacation, I do some internet research to get some info. The internet is pretty useful for this kinda stuff.

I have yet to see a "coupon" for Disney....if there is one out there, please point me in the right direction....

Yea, if you go anywhere south of Atlanta during the summer, it will be hot as balls. Other times of the year it is not.

All trips require you to pack.

You can do Disney for a lot less than $10,000.

But i do agree with her on one point. You do often feel that you need to take a vacation, after returning from a Disney vacation. But that's part of the fun and appeal of the joint.

....end eye roll..

I care so little about this, that I'm sort of ashamed to write the following in her defense:

I totally get it. In order to get a good value out a of a Disney vacation you either have to invest a lot of planning, in park time, or extra money (I suppose the third option is to go during some weird time of year, but I file that under "planning"). Not everyone is willing to do one of those and thus, Disney feels like a terrible value. Especially as it's getting increasingly crowded (well, DLR is anyway, I don't know about WDW), it's very easy to book a multi thousand dollar vacation, not do the appropriate prep. and then feel like you spent most of your time waiting in lines. I can't blame anyone for taking a pass. I on the other hand actually enjoy the challenge of maximizing FastPass and schedules and apps and park knowledge and like most of the CoasterBuzz population, have enough prior knowledge that I fundamentally understand what my options are. I'm not showing up on the first day of my vacay and learning that I should have booked FastPasses 60(!) days earlier.

I plead guilty to planning the hell out of any vacation. If you want know all the restaurants in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho that were on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, I'm your guy (I was going to an ACE event at Silverwood).

I also plead guilty to having the wonderful advantage of never having to pay to get into WDW parks (it's good to have friends who know people at the resort...), so I never feel like I have to get my money's worth out of a visit.

I just have trouble understanding feeling pressured to go to a Disney park, or any park. Or any place. What I get from articles like this is that person writing the article feels like they need to explain why they aren't going. And they don't.

How do you know they don't?

^^ Along with the "you let your kids drink nonorganic juice boxes?" mommy shaming I'm sure there's some "you aren't going to let your kids experience Disney magic?" shaming going on. In some circles not getting your kids to Disney at least once in their childhoods is probably considered almost neglectful. It's amazing the things some groups of moms will guilt/pressure other moms into doing.

Frankly, I'm quite happy that the "author" of this blog or anyone who actually follows her are staying home (or encouraged to) from a place that I enjoy visiting.
