Aww, I missed that one.

Let me guess. A post titled "Friday Night Rant" which includes a silly little story of 3 or 4 paragraphs followed by a paragraph of promotional language hinting that people should look at your site or videos.

Dude, it's the same thing over and over with you trying to find creative ways to skirt the "no spamming" rule.

If people are interested in your site, they'll visit. Plugging it here is the exact kind of noise no one wants to wade through.

The best part is that if you just made productive posts that contributed to the discussion in general, people would probably be more inclined to click that link in your sig out of interest for what you have to say than they are with you coming here and constantly mentioning it.

Of course, I didn't actually see the deleted post but I'd bet money that I nailed it on this one.

It really is funny that you're either:

A. clueless enough to have not caught on to the problem yet.

or

B. that you think the folks around here are clueless enough to not catch on the the poorly veiled advertisements.

If you want to talk coasters, talk coasters. If you want to plug your site, go elsewhere.

I'm not deleting this (that's not to say someone else won't) and hell, I mentioned your site enough. But you got your answer. Now chill with the attempts to use the forums as your personal ad space and then following up with feigned disbelief when those posts disappear.

Gonch, Beautiful form for hitting the nail on the head.

Another Friday nite rant post. 4 paragraphs long. I didn't bother reading the story this time, but I did read the final paragraph where he "won't mention my site because then you can't delete it for spamming, but I'll be adding another vid, and thanks to those that watched the last one...yada...yada...yada".

Coasterclint,

People DO have blogs. Get one and post your rants there. Not here.

Or was he trying to advertise his blog? If so I missed that one. :-)

Your posts remind me of my "student lawyers." A student lawyer is one who comes to my office to (for example) convince me that his incorrect answer on an exam question really ought to be given credit because of some loophole in the question. Every so often, I really did screw up the question, and I make it right. Usually, the student is just grubbing for points where none exist, and thinks by showing me how incredibly 'clever' he is, I will relent in the face of his unassailable logic, and award the higher grade.

Such students are invited to leave my office. Quickly. If they persist, I offer to regrade their exam in its entirety, looking for *any* mistake. Usually, I find some place where a GSI was lenient, and mark off a few more points, *lowering* the lawyer's grade slightly in the process. These students quickly learn that grubbing isn't going to pay off nearly so well as actually learning the material.

And that's what the buzzers here are trying to do for you. In that vein, this part bears repeating:

The best part is that if you just made productive posts that contributed to the discussion in general, people would probably be more inclined to click that link in your sig out of interest for what you have to say than they are with you coming here and constantly mentioning it.

I can think of three or four buzzers off the top of my head whose posts here have caused me to look into their public web personas to "learn more about them." (Well, what they choose to show me---kind of like a first date, but still.) Not because those posts asked me to look, but because they were insightful enough to get me to think about something. And, anyone who gets me to think deserves my attention
