Another carnival accident.

This time a 48 year old man falls from a ferris wheel at a carnival in Batavia Illinois.

No reports on the man's current condition.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Remind me not to go to any carnivals in the Midwest anytime soon. Jeesh!

I have always been kind of leary of carni rides. The ones I have seen/rode haven't exactly been the most stable things in the world.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the guy. :-/

Carnivals are what give Theme parks bad names.

Thanks,

But most fatal amusement ride accidents occur at fixed location parks.
I agree that most fatal accidents do happen at fixed locations. But Fixed locations see many more people than carnivals and maybe cause the rides are bigger? I dunno. However, there are many more accidents at carnivals than fixed locations in my opionion.

"But most fatal amusement ride accidents occur at fixed location parks"

True, but like Crashmando said, how many more people go to fixed location parks as opposed to carnivals... the law of averages comes into effect.

Also... and I am guessing here... but how many injuries / fatalities at fixed location parks (theme and amusement parks) are caused by rider / operator error compared to mechanical / structural failure. Then look at that same stats for traveling carnivals / fairs.

Here's a new link (the original link "died")...

Multiple witnesses said the man appeared to have been deliberately rocking the gondola before he fell.
