in the same week that so many incidents have happened in america theme parks, espically on B&M inverters, an incident happened in the UK today. currently, it seems that a boy was in a restricted area of 'nemesis' at alton towers and was hit in the face by the train. Ouch!
will submit to news when i have more info and a nice link to a news site!
official press release from the park:
"Alton Towers can confirm that there was an incident this afternoon at around 3pm in the vicinity of Nemesis.
A young boy (under 16) entered a restricted area close to the station. Staff immediately reacted to the situation by activating the emergency stop for the ride and shouting warnings to him. Unfortunately however, despite this he was struck by a car. The immediate reaction of the staff resulted in less serious injuries than might otherwise have been sustained.
First Responders, who are trained by Staffordshire Ambulance Services to Ambulance technician level, were in attendance immediately and an Air Ambulance has taken the guest to North Staffordshire hospital.
The guest sustained lacerations to his head but remained conscious and stable throughout.
In line with procedures Health and Safety were informed and are happy for the ride to continue to operate.
Alton Towers very much regrets this incident and will of course continue to monitor the boy’s condition"
