CNN did a story on the dangers of amusement rides.

Just thought I would pass it on.

And now comes the sensationalist media onslaught...

For those other two rides (not the Intamin ride), it was both the people's fault. They started the Scrambler when they weren't supposed to, and the girl leaned her head outside the teacup, and got injured.
The media said 1 in 9 million which I don't think degraded amusement parks. They could have not mentioned that at all.

And that's 1 in 9 million for all guests. I'm sure the odds for guests who ride responsibly are much better.

It sounded like a fair and balanced report to me. I wonder how far you would have to lean back to be hit by that handle. I think it may have been more than just being dizzy.

Yea, The media does not help at all. The stat is for ride malfunctions, but when people do stupid things, i.e. Spin the cup too fast you're out of control, and Start a flat ride when your co-worker hasn't OKed, that's when the chances are different.
But riding so much, even if the ride feels different than it usually does, I still feel safe on it. Except for some.

Actually, there is a rule that you have to keep all parts of your body inside the ride at all times. This girl was not fallowing the rules.

They say "it passed inspection" like its some big shock and the inspections missed something; no, the design of the ride brings the vehicles perhaps too close together and the girl stuck her head out.

If the school bus passes inspection, and you stick your head out the window, the phone pole is going to take it off.......

I seriously can't see how she can reach with her head to smack the other cup.

Until I saw the video, I thought it was a standard tea cup ride. The mini-ride seems like the cups come awfully close to each other.
