Americana to open in June!

I would say this information is very reliable and the following is what occured to me today.

I stopped by Americana today after working overtime.

I said to myself what the heck as there are people working on the new building for Couches Campers and I walked over. (I figured It's better than looking suspicious just to walk right up and ask)

A guy ask me If he can help me.

Me: Sorry to interrupt you guys, Can I ask a couple questions about the park.

Guy: Sure!

Me: Will the park open this season? (As I am asking this I notice three guys working on Screechin' Eagles Second hill!)

Guy: "The park opens in June, We hope to have camper sales open in May. We start taking applications for the park next month" (April)

My mind went blank people, This is the greatest news to me and If I had actually expected to talk to somebody I would have asked more questions like opening date ect but politely, I Thanked him very much and again apologized for bothering them.

I would like to add that I seen forklifts running up and down the lakeside area, Three guys working on Screechin' Eagle and even a guy on THE SERPENT. Another tub has been hung on the flyers and there is work going on in the roof area of the Dodgem ride.

It's his turn to feast, when you ride the Son of Beast.

I'll definitely be going this year. I've seen a ton of pictures and heard a lot of great things about this park and I've always wanted to go but it's been closed.

I can't think of a good signature.

I have not heard the word "RAD" used in along time there Chris! But anyway, this is great news!
Charles, thank you so much for going out of your way to bring us this info. This is truly the best news I have heard this year, and I just hope that opening day will not be during Coastermania or Timbersfest weekends!

OH BABY!

Now they need to get that place advertised as soon as they can!

Todd Long had an idea last year that would help bring the park and coaster enthusiasts [possibly ACE] some good press *and* be a chance to do something good for the community: bringing under-privaledged or inner-city kids to Americana. Obviously there a lot of legal issues to deal with but I think its something we should at least look into. Still, think of the smiles on those kids faces....

Publicity is something that park desperatly needs...especially now. There are soooooo many folks out there who never heard of it.
My mom worked there as a teen when it was called LeSourdsville Lake so if it is open, I bet I can get her to stop there when we go to Ohio this summer. That would be awesome because Screechin' Eagle is built by John A. Miller and it will be the oldest coaster I have ridden (unless I get to Leap the Dips first).

...hopeful that it's early enough in June to get onto the SRM trip...how DO I get this much time off?

I really hope this little park (if it indeed opens) has what it takes to make it. A 1924 John Miller coaster is too good of a thing to go to waste. The Ohio park market is not exactly the best for the little guys to succeed, though. Let's hope Mr. Couch goes after a company picnic strategy that has kept parks like Stricker's Grove and even Kennywood (to some degree) alive for so long.

That said, I sure hope the park's open by June 10th. If I am able to make CoasterbuzzCon, this will be a nice side trip on the way home.
