Americana reopening?

I thought I heard Americana was going to reopen somtime this year. Did anyone from the Cinnicatti area hear anything of it's stattus? Also how far is it from PKI?

I did talk to some one who worked for Mr. Couch's RV place, and he said that it was open. I'm still waiting for the official announcement on the local news down here in Cincy though.

Since the report earlier this year (search our news section), I haven't heard a thing.

From what I've read in Amusement Business it was a soft opening. When the previous owners decided to close the park no thought was given to it being reopend as an amusement park.It was generally thought that it would be razed and the land developed for other uses. In other words it wasn't properly shut down for winter. It would take time to rehire maintainance employees and bring everything back up to snuff. It's also likely that it was stricken from the state inspection files and that has to be reinstituted.

Just read something over on Screamscape - apparently, the permits needed to open haven't even been applied for yet - it doesn't look good. My guess is it won't open this year.
