9News out of Cincinnati (CinciNow) reported last night that Americana is slated to reopen in July following its closure and sale last year.
Owner Jerry Couch told the television station that all 36 rides are in place, and they look at add more in subsequent years. The maintenance staff has been rehired, and the remaining challenge is to find seasonal employees.
An even better story appeared in The Cincinnati Enquirer.
Wil they add a second woodie like a twister within the next few years?

I hope they get something in the next two years. Maybe a CCI terrain woody in their Frontier Land theme section. I am going to try to go there when they open the Screechin' Eagle. I heard it has a new train made by the PTC. Last time I rode it was back in 1996, and I really didn't like it because of the train they had before. The train they had before felt like it was going to fall apart. Did PTC give it a new train?

What I dont understand after reading the reason behind closing the park in the first place is "We cant compete with PKI because it is so close". I live in Illinois and there are 2 smaller scale amusement parks within 50 miles of SFGAm and they dont seem to have a problem staying open. The smaller parks always draw a crowd with families of smaller children and it is cheaper than the big parks. Basically it is a good alternative if you have the little ones with you.
One of the reasons I think is the poor quality of some of the rides and they way the park wasn't well kept with cleaness. Americana was really run down when I visited it in 1996. Almost every store and resauraunt was closed that day. I do hope that this Mr. Couch does make Americana the park that it really was. Clean and operational. He did say on the local news that he has started the clean up process and rehired the maintainance crew. Right now he needs to hire workers to help run the park. Anyone need a summer job?
