Americana Amusement Park

Has anybody heard the status of Americana Park now? It was said to re-open this year and there are also rumors of it not going to.

I don't live too far from Americana. In fact, it's closer to me than PKI. The last I heard, it didn't open last summer as planned because of a lack of employees, and some minor maintenance issues. From what I understand, they were just going to wait until this summer to try again, after working on it more over the winter. That is, if you can believe what you here in the news. I think it would be really nice to have it open again. It would be cool if they could get a decent steel coaster there, but it probably would not be anything major - maybe just a sit-down one looper thing. It would at least help bring back some more people, and keep it going for a couple of years until they could maybe expand. I have some fond memories of Americana. It used to be a pretty fun place.

Oh man, I really hope it's gonna happen. For those who haven't experienced it, the Screechin' Eagle is one hellacious woodie - the airtime is unreal.

Well the official news is no news.

My confidence in ever seeing Americana operate again is waning to the point where I have tried to console myself with the facts.

Facts being that Mr. Couch bought the land for his camper business, then the whole rumour about all the rides being up for sale at IAAPA, then the doubletalk in the media. How he only seems to come into the picture when a meda person gets antsy and wants a story.

As life is, it's about the time where he's gonna need staff, or at least get some staff lined up. *Devious thought* About March maybe we should call the park posing as job seekers. That should help us get a better feel for his intentions.

Anyone live near the park, and have access to an aircraft suitable for taking aeiral pictures of what is or is not being done.
