American Eagle complaints (brakes and racing)

I went on American Eagle June of last year, and found it to be a better coaster than I was told it was. The trim brakes between the top and bottom of the helix and the brakes going into the final helix before re-entering the station were all activated, but the outward and inward hills had a tremendous amount of airtime. This was surprising on the return trip, especially since the brakes were on. I liked it enough that I went for an immediate re-ride, and they actually raced the trains that second time. Does anyone know why those side-guards are on the trains? Did somebody go for the Kennywood Racer idea, and try to tag the hand of the rider in the opposite car?

AMERICAN EAGLE!! (RED TRAIN)BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This just shows that even though there are complaints a lot of people enjoy the classic wooden racer. Maybe, we might get the best of the Eagle this year. Racing and one side goes backwards. WOW! That would be better than the 2 new coasters combined, well maybe not but close! ;)

American Eagle backwards in 2001!!
Well, I remember in the early 90's the Red was backwards, I didnt get to ride it,, a few years ago, the Blue was,, now, really, it wasnt fun, I thought it was kinda boring, cause the track is just not that fun on the Blue side, so if they do, hopefully this time its the reds turn.!!

Is it confirmed that the Eagle is going to run one train backwards now? I only thought it was a rumor.
