Sorry here one where the links work.

I don't know why Tussaud's parks are considered the top parks in the UK. There's no doubt they do the most advertising.

But IMHO, having visited a lot of UK parks in the last year, I think the best park in the UK by a long shot is Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Richard

The reason for all this is simple

Tussards have taken the decision to transfer Chessington complety into a family park and leave Alton and Thorpe receiving all the bigger/better rides. this is why Thorpe is much more of a thrill park now and changed from a family park ever since it opened to a full blown thrill park. Now I know chessie still have a few thrill rides, but its main potential is to concentrate more on family rides in the future so this is why and now you know :)

Thorpe & Chessington are only about 20 mins away from each other, Chesington is also in a relatively residential area, with a serious height restriction. Tussauds own both parks, and there's a market for both a thrill park and a family park in London. It makes sense what they are doing, however disappointing it may be to us the enthusiasts!

Tussauds have actually decided to invest most of their funds into making Thorpe Park their flagship. They have decided the hight restrictions of Alton Towers are becoming a much to expensive burdon for their current flagship.

Rubbish. Why on earth do they want to build a huge woodie at AT then!?

If you don't expand you needn't keep the park open, do you? The main investments are going to Thorpe Park. A 10-inverter, an inverted coaster. Alton Towers has to settle with a revamp of their Haunted House and AIR. All AT will get untill the woodie are revamps or replacements. Thorpe Park will most likely be expended even further. Fact is that AT used to get the 'best' rides, but they're currently all going to Thorpe.

AT is a lovely park, but sources at Tussaud's are claiming it will loose its flagship position to Thorpe.

They are developing Thorpe up to Alton Towers standard, not trying to exceed it, there's no point.

Well, that's not what I've heard from Tussauds. But we'll see what will happen.. :)

Just for your information. Planning permission has been applied for a new rollercoaster at Chessington. So its not the rumoured duelling one for Beanoland. This application is much more indepth, and the rollercoaster looks like it will be brought to you by the same people that brought you Winjas Fear and Force at Phantasialand. They are spinning and again will be family coaster, but from the looks of the plans quite thrilling ones.

Here you go, here is the link to the application

It seems though that a lot of work is already started so I would say this is pretty much certain now. It's no B&M but it will still be a great little ride and a lot of fun.

That link doesn't work. But I would love to see another Maurer & Söhne spinning coaster. They just give an incredible ride experience, even if they're just kiddie coasters.

Thanks for the information.

Doesn't that seem a rather strange lay-out for a mouse coaster, especially a Maurer?

Yeah very strange some of the elevations show some steep drops and it seems quite long as well. Seems it will be in a new area of the park along with several kiddy rides.
Not quite ride. Looks it will replace the Action Man attraction. Take a look at the other permit requests. Chessington has requested a demolition-permit for Action Man.

Chessington sent out that ride ages ago and was turned down long time ago so they just built the beanotown looks like there trying again.
