Alton Towers wants you to "ride Rita"

Okay, am I the only one who sees a potential problem with Alton's new ride's tag line "Ride Rita"?

RCDB says it's an Intamin Rocket Coaster. I'm not up on physics but would it need to go 62mph to go up a 69 ft top hat? Even it it does, a 69ft top hat is kind of lame, plus they already have a vertical drop coaster so it seems pretty redundant having something else that does a similar thing - unless of course Oblivion is going, thanks to the Ropers.

IMO, Alton has proved time and time again that their rides don't have to be tall to be good- just creative. Launch should be good, its relatively similar to that of Xcelerator, which packs a pretty good punch.

Um, I don't know about that. You can't say 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds is comparable to 0-82mph in 2.3 seconds.

i doubt its an Intamin rocket...my vote is a Vekoma motorbike....

Agreed, Kraxel. Although I can't think of a single launched coaster that's been built that I've though wasn't thrilling or powerful enough. Even the original Paramount Fof' launches kick my ass pretty well.

That was the first confirmation, a Veko Moterbike, and with this advertising, that seems like what it should be, but I hear alot of things pointing to Intamin.

I really don't have a clue, not suprising since I dont keep up with the European community that much.

Site seems to have a racing touch to it. Maybe racing moto Vekoma coasters.

At first glance I thought it said "Ride RTA," which of course will only show you how to get around Cleveland.

Ride Rita, eh? Just goes to show how much more open-minded people are in the U.K.!

I wonder why this ride isn't one of Alton's Secret Weapon rides? What makes a coaster a Secret Weapon anyway?

The ride is certainly an Intamin rocket coaster and the ride circuit goes around the existing corkscrew rollercoaster.

Also, rumour has it that there is a top hat or a similar element in the coaster. There is also rumoured to be a loop.
