I have got to get to this place! This sounds like a ravine coaster gone mad. Of course the parallels to Beat are also obvious. Any hints out there as to who the builder might be?
I'm going to guess Intamin. I've got nothing to back that up with other than the fact that when AT does something, they go all out and do it right. I'd expect it to be plug-and-play.

Why'd it have to be the UK?!

(bangs head against desk)

We need something like this in the US. Isnt it supposed to be 250feet?

My jaw is still on my keyboard... If I didn't see it, I could NEVER have believed the possiblity of a 200 foot drop wooden coaster at that park o.O

Not a big deal, but during my 1999 visit to the park (big deal for me as I'm from CT in the USA), I remember looking at the vally and thinking to myself how cool it would be if a coaster went down it =D

BTW, with this being Alton, I'd bet it will be well themed (maybe to somthing haunted?)

I want to stress here and now that even though these plans sound very exciting, Its pointless getting all excited about them. For a start, Its only in the early planning stages, and thats a good enough chance it could get refused, the residents at Alton are always allowed to have their say on new rides at Alton, so this is the biggest drawback.

Also its planned for 2005, and there is 2 more years to wait yet, I certinatly dont want to get excited about something that hasnt been confirmed yet and could still have the possibily of it turned down, only when I know its fully confirmed will I then get excited.

Overall those, these plans are still very exciting, and if it does go ahead, Alton could have a very special ride indeed and there are rumours floating it will have a world first feature although this was said for AIR and nothing happened, so I will believe it when I see it.

Oh and lastly, The ride will definatly be a intermin ride like Colossos at Heide Park made with the quieter wood to keep noise down

I cant get the pictures to load.
me either, this is so annoying! It sounds amazing but why wont they let me see it!?!?
I feel your pain. Trust me.
To the last three guys:

That's because the site is under maintenance [as of 19:23, 19 March 03]!

This looks, well, amazing. If Alton pulls this off, I must ride it. This is quite possible the coaster I'm most excited about riding on both sides of the pond, and it hasn't even been confirmed yet. :)
