Alton Towers designates hotel rooms as adult only

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Alton Towers has designated certain wings of their hotel as "family friendly," prohibiting noisy sex, after some guests complained about screaming louder than what you find on their thrill rides.

So in the 'family friendly' wing you won't be allowed to do the very thing that creates family's in the first place! I find that very funny. I wonder how they plan to enforce this?

This sounds like another PR stunt. Like the waivers to ride their new ride, threatening to take Blackberry devices and PDAs, etc.

I've always been amused that sex isn't family friendly while being the source of families. I chuckle when you hear people getting busy in hotels.

They were just jealous that they couldn't make as much or more noise in fear of waking the kids. ;)

To be fair, not all sex is the source of families.

(Don't judge me; I'm just pointing out the facts. ;) )

And hopefully your source for sex isn't your family...

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I was trained in the hotel business by an elderly woman (probably late 60s or 70s) that was a true professional. She taught hospitality, traveled most of her life through hotels...a real gem.

We are in an old (thin walls) hotel on early afternoon and she is showing me the finer points of making sure everything is in its place, the room is tidy, etc. In the room next door we begin to hear very recognizable sounds and the wall begins to rattle. This is in a family resort but most of the people are likely out and about.

This lovely old woman never bats an eye. She never misses a beat. As the sounds get louder and louder and the end is near she continues talking as if we are sitting in an office. Finally, with her work concluded (and the work next door concluded) we leave the room and she heads down the hall with me following close behind.

She stops, turns around, looks me in the eyes and without so much as a grin she says, "you are going to see and hear it all in this business."

And, she was right.

No word of a lie. As I was reading this thread, what song on my playlist comes up on my computer? "My baby does the Hanky Panky." LOL

Maybe if the rides were louder, you wouldn't hear the extracurricular activity. Just tell me it wasn't that neighbor with the pottery shop who complained.

Now those in the adults only wing will have even less reason to restrain themselves. It could turn out to be a contest to see who can be the loudest.

I hope the adult's only section are smoking rooms because you know people need to light up after a round of getting busy. :)

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

So will the Adult only rooms be rented out by the hour?

Before you can be older and wiser you first have to be young and stupid.

When the Alton Towers group decides to issue a press release for something legitimate, will anybody believe it?

Oh, I'm sure they could find a lot of uses for restraints. ;)
