Almost a major accident on X-flight! (SFWoA)

These young people have those jobs, no doubt in my mind that thier applications and background history look really good, not to mention people being reccomended and the such. They are bad workers, though. Thier perception is that they are working hard, nobody can change that, it's a management duty to come over and let those people know that just because they probally feel that they are doing a good job, that they're not. You never know you're doing something wrong or not doing something until somebody instructs you otherwise. If I complain to a ride op about linejumping or something and they have a no care or a why do you care attitude, I report it, if they seem sincere, I don't. Otherwise, they probally don't get much praise or the such when things are rolling very smoothly. As for the restraints, that's a no brainer.
Ok, I will be going to SFWoA on August 13th and I have never ridden a coaster like X-FLight. What kind of safety harness's do they have that you have to make sure you have engaged?

StealthFM, Go to SFWoA!! They have many good coasters. I see you like Stealth so go there and ride X-Flight. They also have an impulse, Floorless, CCI woody, Classic and more. SFWoA is a great park. Dont let ONE bad comment in a long time spoil your fun.

Jeff it is time that you get off of this SFwoa kick that the park is not that bad! We all can't be wrong and it is very important for people, especially the enthusiasts, to point out the dangers that are there and be very pro-active about this. There is no way the general public can be pro-active, because they just don't know enough. You and I know the rides are safe, but when ride ops are operating the rides like they are at SFwoa and joking around, then their is a problem. Don't minimize the potential hazard that is there. SFwoa has many many problems, too many to list! How do you know that the train wouldn't dispatch even if the leg braces were not locked? Do you work for Vekoma? Who really trusts that ride that Vekoma built, especially with all the trouble they have been having with that ride. It is time to wake up and smell the coffee Jeff, SFwoa is a terrible, and as bad as this may sound, there will be someone getting seriously injured if the park doesn't do something about there lack of safety measures.
Jereb, Ok you sit in this seat, but when you go to sit you have to slide into these leather feeling harnesses. Then you buckle them together. ( each side of the leather restraint ) And Then A ride Op comes and pushes down this big waist bar. It holds you lower body and your ankles. After that is in. They Lock your uper restraint. And Then your snug and ready to go! The recline you and your out. Try riding front or back. Thier awesome. Here is a video of X-Fight http://www.coasters2k.com/downloads/video.php?id=10 Im still trying to find a picture of the restraints.

Someone should send this thread to SWoA. (Someone other than me)
I pretty much felt kind of unsafe at SFWoA when I went too (with the exception of S:UE). I only got to ride 2 coasters however, beeing that Villan, X-Flight, BNK were down. Raging Wolf Bobs, the ride ops didn't even look to see if everyone was secure for one. X SFWoA 115..."ONE" bad comment? I have plenty more about the park.

Hey did you guys know that they have raised parking at SFWOA from 8 bucks to 9 bucks since last week!

Amazing... when an accident happens at other parks, quite a few "enthusiasts" all yell (okay, all together now)... "Rider Error! Rider Error! Rider Error!", because everyone knows that every park in the country (except SFWoA of course) hires top notch operators and these monster machines that we all love so much never have any sort of mechanical problems. However, when an accident doesn't occur at SFWoA (the train was stopped, the restraints secured = no accident), it has got to either be the fault of a) management or b) incompetent ride ops.

Had this happened at another park, some who have blasted SFWoA for "incompetence" would be lauding the crew because they "were alert and caught the error before a terrible incident would have occured... had this happened at SFWoA you know the train would have been dispatched and everyone would have been dead."

Believe me, I am not blindly loyal to SFWoA (never been to a SF park), but then again I am not totally against SFWoA either as so many seem to be.

"I wasn't always this cynical, but then I started kindergarden..."
The park wouldent be all that bad if they could get some good help and build taller coasters - which I've heard that they have gotton approval for there next coaster from a lady at customer service last week on the WILD SIDE also I think that they were not ready for the large crowds, the park isent all that big on the ride side
I just got back from my SFNJ,SFOG,PKI, Cedar POint, and Six Flags WOA vacation this summer. I Agree that the park isn't ran the greatest. But you realy can't compare anything to Cedar Point. When I went to ride X-Flight, they were having some problems with it and instead of opening at 1pm like said, they opened 4 hours later. That's the only thing that really made me mad. But we waited and when we got up one of the stations, it broke down and the machanics came and worked on it while the people were still prepared to depart. It took them a half hour to finally decide to take the people off.
We ended up having to merge over into the other station queue line and during this, I was talking to someone who was on the train that broke down and she said she lost ciculation in her feet and the blood rushed to her head. I was very disapointed in the ride operators.
Even though this was a major let down, I still had a great time at the park. I would definatly go back, and don't blame the park itself. It's a great place in my opinion. The workers are the ones that need to shape up.
X-Flight is just poorly run.

Everyone that's complaining about the crews at SFWoA is semi-right. I've tried for jobs there in the past and it almost seems like they won't hire enthusiasts (probably because they'd lose money on me not paying to be there). You guys all need to check out the Villain crew when Rebecca is working, she is the lead op, and she is really awesome. Last monday (not yesterday, that was a CP day ) a friend and I were at SFWoA and had the coolest time on Villain. It was running out of control, and they were giving us a mini-ERT session. i think all in all i got around 8 or 9 re-rides. They even kept it open JUST FOR US after they closed dow, and we got 2 re-rides without having to leave the train. It was like Holiday World or Knoebels. They were highg-fiving us, making us yell and cheer, letting the "enthusiasts" (anyone with patches or coaster shirts that weren't just the average tourist six flags looking shirts)have some room in our lapbars, and if there was an empty seat when we exited, we could sit back down in it. it was SO un-Six Flags it was great. Intamin Fan was there that night, too and he happened to be on Villain at the same time as my friend and I. It was a great ending to a HORRIBLE day. (we had security called on us once at MR Hero cause my friend wanted to speak to a manager...i think it's cause i have BRIGHT red hair)
anyway, next time i make it back there, i'll be sure to do Villain all day, just for that crew.

You should still go to the park, it has some great rides. It is just that some of the people there are complete ***es and they don't care.

I was on Serial Thriller, and I just remember the ride-ops being very mean. They didn't seem to care either. Perhaps that's what happens when you have to deal with some of the morons that go on the rides. But if that's true, then perhaps they're being overworked.

On Villain, I was curious as to who manufactured the ride. So I asked the main operator, and he didn't know. At Raging Wolf Bobs, we got the ride's biography basically. And in the absence of a line, once we were done we were allowed to go right back on, unlike Villain, Serial Thriller, or Superman.

I will say this though. We went June 28 and 29, right before the 4th weekend. Nobody was there. The only rides that had longer than a 2 minute wait were BatmanKF (5 min wait) and X flight (2 hr wait). It's really easy to get sick of the coasters when the lines are like this.
Custom coaster did the villain I'm almost sure *** This post was edited by Mr. Mouse on 7/24/2001. ***
That was not even close to being a major accident. There is no way they would let them leave the staion with out pushing down the leg restraints. Though I am suprised that they can recline with out the restraints being locked. Unlike many coasters, the restraints do not need to be locked during the morning tests like on MF. X-Flight however would need to be locked because I'd assume it wasn't designed to run its course with the leg restraints sticking out. But this sort of things happen and no one was in danger.
Why is it that all of you think that the only park SFWoA should be compared to is Cedar Point?

Yes, I agree, CP seems to have better operations of their park than Worlds of Adventure.

I trust a ride made by Vekoma as much as I trust a ride made by Intamin or B&M. Vekoma hasn't had any serious problems with X-Flight besides capacity. None dealing with safety, as far as my knowledge.

Just Coasting, I think it is high time you get off your SFWoA kick that the park is bad!

Really! If it is as bad as you say, then why the hell do you keep going? What's the reasoning in this?? There must be something thats keeping you coming back, isn't there (like great coasters, including X-Flight)? I'm sure your seasons pass price has been compensated for as many times as yuou've been to this "terrible" park. Go grace another park with your presence, that way we won't have to hear you bytch and moan about SFWoA!
