Maybe those parks (IB and Mount Olympus) have too much on their hands they can't handle it!? Too many coasters to maintain. They should have less of them and keep them in top shape. Never been to IB but a couple times to Mount Olympus, and last visit was 2017 and their coasters were not in top shape, quite rough! My last ride on Hades 360, the seat board on the train was loose and lifting up! I do love wooden roller coasters from Custom Coasters International but I find that they become extremely rough if not maintained properly.
I have been thinking that 2 parks that are worse than a SF park sandwich what I consider to be the best SF park (Great America). Hades was great in 2005, but that park - not sure how they are still open. IB as well went from one of the best true classic parks to a dump in the matter of 3 years.
They don't need new rides or coasters, they need to take care of what they have - and their guests.
Well if people keep going then I guess they can keep doing the same they do! Some parks have little competition around and even though they don't add new rides people keep coming back!!! La Ronde is a great exemple.
Didn't see that coming ... in the UK it ran (different trains) with lap bars and some very odd and time consuming fabric harnesses, like something from a race car.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
The cynical side of me says they were looking for ways to reduce the weight even further on these trains.
“Keep head back against headrest at all times,” or at least during the loops. Gonna race out on Sunday to nab some rides! I’m excited about this ride again!
What a crazy ride, loved it. The first drop in the back seat... holy cow. You can't see the action in the videos, but this is definitely a brace yourself with 2 hands and 2 legs ride. Make sure you sit up straight the whole time! The park wasn't crowded, and the ride was a walk-on. We rode 5 times when we got there - did the park all day - then went back for 6 rides near the end of the day (4 in the front seat without getting up!)
The first drop is excellent and one of the wildest moments on any coaster I've ever been on. I rode the very back alone once; at the bottom of that drop my knees slammed together (not fun) and it tried to rip me out of the sit and put me in the empty seat to my right (fun). That drop reminds me of Mind Bender's "horizontal loop" but 10x wilder.
Another favorite spot was racing towards the 3rd loop. It runs at ground level and has to "wrap around" the first loop to get to the third. I love straight track - although not straight, running at ground level like that is awesome. The loops were not as powerful as I thought they would be, which I was totally fine with. Shock Wave at SFOT has more powerful loops with greyout, these were fast but easy. The lift is scary loud; my friend who used to work there said they are using the motor from Mexico (loud) but do have a German motor as well (not loud). Is that from Mindbender that closed in Canada?
The rest of the park is still the IB since the Spackman's closed it; run-down, rides not operating (rode Lost Coaster for the first time since 2011, so happy it was open). My friend said about Hurricane "I won't ride it, ride at your own risk." I sat that once out too, it was miserable a few years ago.
Cornball is still top-notch but needs a lot of track work. Tig'ger was running a single car, which 4 of us rode at once - the way it was meant! The new Cyclone in the Galaxy spot was closed; they only run single car as well from what I heard. Both dark rides had many scenes/effects not working.
The tacos look the same but are wretched AND $4 each. The taco stand girl put her head down on the counter between orders. A cup of ice or water is the same as a drink and they no longer have water fountains.
Despite the problems, I'm so glad they got this coaster - and took the shoulder restraints off. Coaster geeks were there from all over. Cascabel from Mexico, as well as King Chaos from Great America, and bunch of other rides are there, behind the looper. New stuff is great, but take care of what you have first - that is very six flags way of operation. This place was like a dream when the family owned it; pristine, everything open and running top-notch and full capacity. It ran like Knoebels.
