Alcatraz: The Ride

Went to SFGADV yesterday.  Alcatraz opened yesterday.  It is $7.50 (I think only as of Fright Fest because there is only one simulator, 5 will be open for April)....four people go into each pod.  One is the pilot.  You go into a preflight briefing for 5 minutes before boarding.  You then board into a pod....and begin...180 degree view screen....pilot shoots rockets and steers...3 gunners shoot regular guns....you have to destroy the ship over Alcatraz island....very good....write back if anyone else experienced Alctraz: The Ride Alien Invasion!

Sounds kind of like Pirates of the Caribbean at DisneyQuest.  Are there 3-D glasses?

No 3d glasses... THe graphics are great...and you control it with a pilot steering thing just like a joystick...plus the pilot has a shift to go faster and slower..

I saw the ride in action yesterday but didn't ride it. It looks like just a big video game to me.

I rode it on Friday...FOR FREE!!!!!  OH YEAH!  It was their Beta Test day just to get initial reactions...I was able to ride 3 times!  Man, let me tell you, it is one HELLUVA ride!  The graphics are just insane, the movements are perfect (I actually felt like I was fliiping) and even though you have no glasses, the screen completly immerses you and you see everything like it really is there.  It is excellent!  I'm gonna try to join the Winter Leagues...do Alcatraz all winter for only one price while competing against other teams for prizes!  You guys hav got to get out here and ride this thing!  Who cares if it's an upcharge, it's worth every cent!
