Airtime on Phantom's Revenge is Awsome!

I was fortuate enough to ride Phantom's Revenge for the first time today...we were in the area and my parents were nice enough to drop me off to ride while they went shopping at the Water Front...what a coaster! The airtime was amazing and I've never experienced so much airtime on a coaster. I sat in the 2nd to the last seat and on every hill, I was out of my seat. The retractable seat belts were great and were not too tight and the seats were the most comfortable for a coaster I've ever been on. I waited in line for about and hour and a half, but it was worth it. Personally, I think it's better than Millenium Force and it produces more airtime than Magnum. Kennywood deserves a pat on the back for installing such a great ride that everyone will enjoy for years to come. However, to opperate more than 1 train, trims need to be installed, which I'm hoping don't ruin the awsome airtime. The train is going too fast through the break run and it flies into the station. Let's hope the trims don't ruin this truly great ride.

no surprise here. this puppy could easily be the best steel ride in the world, just like i said. now who got the pics?

Yes, I just have not payed much attention to the status of Phantoms revenge. I've been researching other coasters. I know plenty on coasters.

Please focus a minute portion of your research energy towards Phantom's Revenge before posting in a forum, then. Remember, keep the noise to a minimum.

Here's a pretty decent link with information about Phantom's Revenge.

They shouldn't have to install trims to run 2 trains, that's what the brake run is for.

Well, except that the train is apparently flying into the station with so much speed that it's overshooting the final brake run and going partially into the station. They COULD put the final brakes on harder to prevent that, but then you'd be *slamming* to a dead stop.

I haven't ridden PR yet nyself, but that'll hopefully be fixed in a few hours...

I will be going to Kennywood Tuesday and Wednesday! I can't wait to ride PR. Did anybody sign up for the Phantom Phanatics card thing? It sounds pretty cool.

I really didn't notice Phantom's Revenge "flying" into the station but it might have a little bit. I'm hoping the trims are placed near final helix so that the airtime is not ruined...although I'm not sure if 7-10 mph would make much of a difference. The double dip camelback produces some of the greatest airtime I've ever experienced and the whole ride is one airtime filled machine.

Well, I rode Phantom's Revenge 9 times today. Got my Phantom Phanatics card, too, but it only allows you to scan it 4 times ;)

The ride was worth the wait. It may very well be my favorite roller coaster right now...

So is there just only one train right now on the tracks, or is everyone talking about a third train?

Sounds like a cool ride. How's the tunels and the other drop in the ravine?
I heard that the tunnels aren't installed yet. Is that true?
The tunnels were taken out from original designs. Right now its just a trench

And how close is that head chopper by the station?

Bryang, they took out all of the inversions and the OTSR and installed lap bars. They kept the first two tracks, but Morgan redid the entire rest of the ride.

The ready brakes (those before the station) do not sufficiently stop the train whereas it would be safe to run two trains. There is too much of a chance, even on their highest pressure, that the train could slip somewhat past the transfer table.

The reason you went flying in to the station is that the ready brakes were on a lower setting since there is only one train running. The same thing occurred with the Steel Phantom. The only time you stop on the transfer table is when there are two trains running.

The trim brakes are unlikely to change any ride experience. They are to be placed immediately before the transfer area, after the helix, and at the end of the final bunny hop.

The reason for running only one train also has to do with the fact that the manufacturer was late getting the second train to the park, and it is still being retrofitted on to the Steel Phantom chassis.

KP figured it was better to open with one train than make everyone wait indefinitely for the brakes and second train to be added.

Today, Sunday, there was only about a 20 minute wait. Wow.

Could you describe the ruckus?
