Air a copy?

Do you think air might have been a copy off of Stealth or Batman? Or did B&M have the idea for a while and Alton towers took it this years?

It's different, I don't think it has a vertical loop (correct me if i'm wrong please) and it's loading is different also.

Drive to theme parks for the food, stay for the coasters!! Knott's Fried Chicken

I think that the Vekoma and B&M versions are a lot different. AIR has more of a "Flying" vibe to it while Stealth and the other VFD's are more of a coaster type with inversions and big drops.

The cool thing about AIR is that it will have a corksrew while you are flying, now thats cool.
As stated in the closed thread, B&M had been working on their design for 7 years or more. AIR was actually meant to be built in 1998 instead of Oblivion but its plans weren't completed & the rest is history.
It does not have a flying corkscrew - it has an inline twist as it's only full inversion.

I live only an hour from  Alton Towers so I visited often this year.

Some suposedly "Major" coaster site announced that it would be the world's first coaster with a flying corkscrew.  Everyone seemed to buy it despite lack of evidence.

Oh how wrong were they!!

B&M has planned Air for years, they use a difrent design all together. B&M calls they ride a Prone Coaster because of the design while Vekoma calls theirs a Flying Coaster. Plus it being done by B&M you know it will work good ;)

Dan if you're so close to Alton then you should have seen that model.  or the actual construction which, last I saw, was about to enter the corkscrew.  and that inline twist is only a half a twist.  there's another after a turn around, then another turn, then a corkscrew (or whatever word B&M is going to come up with to call it) then a few more turns into the station.

I haven't heard anything on AIR's past, but I believe that Vekoma was planning a FD since the 80's.  their's certaintly came first, but that doesn't matter.  all that matters is quality and I have a feeling that B&M is going to blow Vekoma out of the water.

Oh dear, you lack faith...

Anyway - check out SW5live and check out the inline twist.

Please don't lecture me on something I'm very close to, I would'nt do that to anyone.

Not only have I seen the model I've spent close to half an hour examining it in person and it does have a corkscrew on the model - however the model is wrong, the actual ride has an inline twist.
