Adventureland Part 4 of 4parks July 26th-30th

Associated parks:
None

Trip: July 26th-30th

Parks: Big Chief, Six Flags Great America, Six Flags St. Louis and Adventureland.

Adventureland is located in Des Moine, Iowa.

This is my last park for my upper-midwest weekend coaster trippin. This is my first visit to the park. Each year I have been pushing my self to make it out there finaly got a chance this year. I left Six Flags St. Louis around 5:00pm because its about 10hr drive to Des Moine, Iowa. Night time driving was excellent. I got to Des Moine around 4:30am. I stayed at the Bestwestern Colonial Motel. $44.00 for one night not a bad deal. I slept till about 10:00am or so than headed towards Adventureland. I got there around 10:30am. $24.00 was the regular admission not bad. The park was very clean and the employee's were very friendly. I only stayed there till about 3:00pm because I had to head back up to Minnesota. Crowds were fairly decent steady but not crowded or busy. I must have picked a right weekend to go coaster trippin.

The Outlaw: 10/10 The Outlaw is CCI :)! Offers a nice first drop, nice turns and a very smooth ride. The Outlaw was my 121st coaster. 12laps because its CCI :)!

Tornado: 9.5/10 This is a classic ride. Very nice drop not a whole lot of air time but very enjoyable. 8laps.

The Dragon 7/10 I found this to be your typical corkscrew type of coaster. Only 2inversions. 4laps.

The Underground: 8/10 Very cool dark ride. Again this is CCI :). 5laps.

Saw Mill Splash: 8/10 Its your traditional water slide. It was a hot day so I needed a nice cool down ;). It also has a featured geyser reservoir and saw mill themeing. 3rides.

Space Shot: 10/10 S&S are my favorite rides to ride. Space shot is free fall ride. Its almost like the one at Valleyfair but only a single tower with 12seats. Height is 235feet. Very cool. 8rides. :).

Adventureland is a nice park. It does have some nice selections of flat rides. I had to stop because it was on the way back to Minnesota. I may return in 2003 possibly.

End of August 27th-30th Last month for coaster trippin. Who knows were I will be going .

Did you ride the Top Scan. Do they have one there. I thought they did.

The Top Scan as at Long Island Adventureland (New York), not Adventureland USA (Iowa).

Adventureland is the closest thing to my home park, along with SFGAm. I have one question. Why Adventureland? Why not WoF? I absolutely despise of adventureland. Outlaw is a very cool ride though. Hope you liked your stay at the worst park on earth (besides arnold's park in nw IA)

I think I've been to over 20 parks (not a lot to some, I know), but at the same time I realize that Adventureland & Arnold's Park is not one of the worlds wort parks.

That is unless you've come to expect all parks to feature 10 coasters and have that nice packed sensation (some people like to refer to Six Flags Great America on a Saturday in July as cozy). If you need mega parks to quench your thirst for coasting then by all means skip out on the bulk of family run parks.

However if you like the whimsy that some of these places create then family parks are fantastic.
