Adventureland (IA)

Associated parks:
None

Okay, I just got back from Adventureland in IA. I keep reading all these great things about Tornado, but I still don't see it. Very minor airtime in the front (1.2, 1.2, 1.3, and 2.1) and none in the back. I got some minor air on Outlaw which has to be my favorite family coaster. I rode the Underground for the first and possibly last time. The new ride Sidewinder was fun. I have never been on one of those before. Anyways, I spent like 30 bucks for an hour and 45 min before I got bored and left. It is on my way back from WoF so I had to stop, but I don't really think I will anymore. The park would be great if you have small kids or if you are into atmosphere over thrills, but it is not thrilling by any means.
I will agree with you on Underground, this is my home park and I think it is a boring ride. The themeing is cool though. They actually made the Tornado a little faster going down the first hill over the years. Outlaw your favorite family coaster heh? I personally think that is a head jerker but still fun. I will be going out later this year for Sidewinder. Now only if they would build a Hyper Coaster or be bought by Cedar Fair, hey I can dream can't I?

Tornado has never been about air time, its just a fun coaster, but has aged for so log, it has lost a lot of the speed it once had.

Outlaw is a cool coaster, I wouldn't call it it a family coaster.

I agree, Underground is real silly, Adventureland would do better in making somethnig else in that spot, as the whole story and theme of the ride is cheesey, and always has been.

Anyways, I'm disapointed you wasted a all day pass and spent hardly any time in the park. I heard the weather was bad this weekend, how was it when you were there? It is never a good idea to go to that park on opening day, nothing is running up to speed, and it is usally too cold to ride anything. The park has tons of good rides to go on, I prefer the park over some Six Flags parks due to it having so much to do.

One thnig I do agree that Adentureland needs to do is build a new steel coaster, their last coaster was built in '93, no counting Underground. I know the owners got the money to put one in, and I think it would help the park tremedously to bring back some coaster enthusiasts who skip this park. They already got the best # of flat rides and water rides over most parks, now they just need another coaster to put their name out there again.

Btw, was anything not running when you were there? I'm planning to go there soon myself.

The weather this weekend was cold and rainy, maybe high 50's at the most.

I love the Galleon and Shooting Star, can't wait to try the Sidewinder.

The weather was okay. The sun was warm but the wind was cold. After I purchased my ticket I went back to get my sweatshirt and then I was fine.

I agree that it was a waist to purchase a ticket and leave before 2 hours, but there just wasn't more I wanted to do. If this was a CF park and my VF pass worked there, it would make a nice hour stop on my way back from WoF, but it really is not worth the price of admission for me.

I did not notice anything down, but I really was not checking. I was there once before so I kinda knew what I wanted to hit.
