Adventureland August 2023

Earlier this year I spent a weekend in Iowa after spending the first day driving 5 hours from my home state of Minnesota. I stayed at the on-site resort the Adventureland Inn, the pools and amenities were nice and the room was fairly standard. It was also nice being able to walk to the park especially since there was a massive line of cars coming 30 minutes before the PARKING area opened we got to the park about 45 minutes prior to opening and the gate opened about 15 minutes prior to opening and we headed in to park and after rope drop we booked it to Monster my first Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster and we waited two cycles before getting on. Following that we went on Tornado the parks classic wooden coaster which is a very interesting ride. After that we went to go look at the new additions for 2023 however decided not to ride due atrocious lines. Instead we went on Phoenix the worst spinning coaster I have done. Following Phoenix we went on Outlaw a very underrated woodie we also checked out the water park, however I only did three slides due to the lines. We then continued and went on the the new for 2023 Flying Viking and Draken Falls both were fun but lacked theming. Then we went into the arcade and we did G-Force the parks break dance which was very intense. I the went on Dragon Slayer which gave me a headache so we also did a magic show and had food after resides on Outlaw, Tornado, Dragon Slayer, and Monster we concluded are trip by raiding the gift shop. I was surprised to see that they had a parkscapes model from the park.

Here are each of the coaster in order of ranking

Monster:

By far the best out of all the coasters and my new number one (I only have 28 credits I’m just starting don’t judge me please). The ride has some nice hang time and an incredible first drop with incredible amounts of ejector airtime and very whippy inversions especially on the Immelmann.

Dragon Slayer:

My first 4D Free Spin shocked me by how intense it is so much so my nine year old brother was dropping F bombs the whole ride and I had to take another lap. The other thing that is surprising is that I have never gotten a headache on a ride (I’m young so I am sure that will change) but I did on this.

Outlaw: By far one of the most underrated coasters out there this was an extremely and intense GCI style woodie from CCI, the back is by far better than the front as I got some solid airtime. The buzz bars also make this ride excellent.

Tornado: Shockingly smooth for a ride of this age unfortunately it really does not do much. If it had more airtime or any airtime this ride would be so much better. Yet again this ride has Buzz Bars which ensure a comfortable ride despite the seat belts getting tight if your not careful.

Flying Viking: A really nice and fun family coaster that interacts with the Draken Falls log flume which creates nice interaction. It could use some themeing and has massive crowd issue but is overall a good addition.

Phoenix: If this is a spinning coaster there is no spinning this does absolutely nothing and is extremely boring. It gets absurdly long lines and is overall a bad ride.

In conclusion I had a fun day at the park. It has some nice coasters and rides and I would definitely come back.
