Seasonal jobs always are loaded with crazy characters, no matter where, no matter when. Here the setting is 1987 Pittsburgh, at a summer carnival. Filmed at Kennywood, Adventureland is packed with atmospheric details, but its universal teen theme reaches beyond any specific generation or place.

Well, they have a "for certain" audience of about 5000 coaster enstusiasts who will watch come March. ;)
If it can hold up to the comaparison with Fast Times, it will be a winner.
A lot of those 5000 people will probably wait for the DVD.
I am very interested in seeing this, but I tend to rarely make it to the theater anymore even when it's for a movie I've been waiting several years to see.

"Tacky amusement park"???? Well! I'm not sure where the reviewers at Variety are used to going, but...
Relax. The filmmakers used props and scenery to intentionally make the park look run down, so the reaction from the Variety staff suggests that they achieved their goal.
Yeah, Kennywood is acting in the film. It isn't playing itself. :)

I've been excited about this for awhile. First read about it as a Ryan Reynolds project, doesn't look like he's got a huge part, but his comic delivery is always excellent.
Anyone that's worked in a park knows all of the drama that goes on behind the scenes. Who's sleeping with who, who threw up on who at late night staff party, in addition to the weird guest stuff should make for a fun film.
