Adventure World theme park breaking ground in Poland, opening in 2015

The $800-million Adventure World Warsaw theme park set to break ground July 21 will feature lands dedicated to mythical creatures, ancient legends, fantasy worlds and Polish history. Located about a half-hour southwest of Warsaw, the 240-acre resort is expected to debut in 2015 with a theme park, indoor water park, retail center and two hotels. About a third of Adventure World will operate year-round with the remainder of the theme park open from March until October.

Sounded interesting, until all coasters turned out to be Vekoma, even some off the shelf models. It might be great for locals, but they probably won't be attracting a lot of international visitors.

I sent this link to my buddy in Utah. He's not into amusement parks in any way, shape, or form, but he's HEAVY into medieval stuff, legends, and fantasy creatures. He is a practicing witch (occasionally) and is Polish, so this is right up his alley!

I think a lot of it sounds pretty cool..since they're breaking ground next week, maybe it will actually come to fruition, unlike other projects that never even got THAT far (Orlando Thrill Park, anyone?)

The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

I don't know that it's fair to diss Vekoma anymore. We've all more than had our fill of SLC's and Boomerangs, but the roller skaters have been hits with the little ones, and Disney seems to be pretty content with them as well. I don't think anyone would characterize Expedition Everest as a technically bad ride (in terms of the engineering).

Rock n Roller Coaster is also a brilliant ride and not just because of the Disney theming (though maybe because of Disney maintenance).

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

A.) What's a junior boomerang?

B.) It's not all Vekoma coasters, they are getting a Mack spinning coaster.

C.) Ice Riders - An indoor launched roller coaster winding its way through the tunnels and caverns of a mountain during the Ice Age.

D.) X-Ride - Officials remain tight-lipped about plans for a "super" coaster from Vekoma featuring a new ride system.

Totally psyched to visit this park some day.

I was impressed by the concept art. It looks as if it'll be a pretty elaborately themed park.

I haven't ridden any of the Disney ones, but of the recent Vekoma installations I've ridden, I'm still not impressed. Some of them are smoother than before, some are not, but most of them still have a very dull layout. And airtime has yet to enter their dictionary. I have yet to ride any Vekoma that is great. Some are OK, but that's it.

I'll be glad if their new coaster concepts turn out to be great, but for now, my opinion hasn't changed.

I really like the work Vekoma has done for Disney. It seems like they produce great rides when the park is actively involved in the design process and upkeep.

Ben 10 Ultimate Mission is a nice example of an off-the-shelf junior boomerang that is elevated to a whole new level by Drayton Manor's theming.
