If my little Eaglet is lost I will cry. I'm not joking, either. Screachin' Eagle is the most underrated wooden coaster ever built and it is such a jem.

If the ride is relocated to somewhere in the US I will definately take a trip to wherever it goes.

Hey PKI, Heres the replacement flyers you NEED.
I'm going to the park, and soon. I've gotta get some kind of pics before they take the dozers to it.
I e-mailed Couch, politely asking him to consider the large number of enthusiasts who wish to see the Screechin' Eagle restored and moved to another park. Perhaps some of you who are able to pen an eloquent e-mail should do the same.

I really don't care if the park never opens again, as long as the coaster is saved.

Wow... I'm at a loss of words.

We can only hope that the Screechin' Eagle can be saved.

Since the Eagle is a highly-regarded coaster that received quite a bit of work a few years back, I think stands a good chance of being sold and relocated. Like Moosh said, it was relocated once before, and a certain coaster going up in Wisconsin shows that those things can be rebuilt more than once...
This I have come to believe. If an owner states that he wants to sell or find someone to manage a park "as is", what he really is saying is "I really don't want the park but I have got to look like I don't want to bulldoze everything for now until my other plans materialize." I expect much the same for William's Grove. If they really wanted the park to stay, they would find a way to keep it open. Otherwise, the longer it sits, the less likely it will ever reopen.

COULD just bulldoze Cheetah and put Eagle in there, at WA...not like Cheetah's given anyone a decent ride in over 3-4 years...

Poor Chuck, he only remembers Cheetah as a GOOD coaster... ;)

SAVE the Eagle! At any or all cost! Anyone know a park owner that might be interested? We just lost Tx Cyclone, Thriller/Zonga, and likely Zippin Pippin as well...two John Millers disappearing in one year would certainly take a little bit of the lustre from the wood-coaster construction that's been happening. :~/

I haven't checked in the past two weeks, but three weeks ago I drove past Little Amerricka and through the parking lot, and couldn't see anything except the footers. Even the orange fencing around the area was still up, didn't look like anything had been done since fall. :( The wood was still all stacked up back by the old boat. Maybe a few more footers, but nothing vertical yet.

Put Eagle in Florida???

It's been in Ohio all it's life. Keep it somewhere near here!

If it weren't for the damn flooding, I would suggest Coney Island. They need to build a big levee or something.

Maybe Columbus Zoo, once they take over control of Wyandot Lake, might be interested. With the way things are going to be rerouted up there, they could probably fit it in!

Why don't we save it ourselves? Most of us belong to a coaster club (or two.) We could all donate money for the relocation of it. All we would need is a park to adopt it then. Surely there is someone from ACE or another club who would help us organize something like this? Isn't that what being part of a club is all about? If we really love coasters so much, we should all get together and save them!

I agree, but sad as it seems, most enthusiasts would rather talk about how stupid the idea of preservation is rather than realize that some things are motivated by heart and passion rather than the pure desire to make money and please stockholders. I would seriously put some of my hard-earned money to a cause like that, provided other people are just as serious as I am. The problem, of course, is finding a park that wants the coaster AND can accomodate the coaster. I've learned that a LOT of parks WANT wood coasters but many cannot get them built either due to lack of land or overabundance of local opposition. If we can find a park that SERIOUSLY wants the coaster, I think that enough like-minded enthusiasts can get something done, skeptics be damned.
Twin Grove Park needs a coaster.

Well, after they finish getting the circle swing together (and do they or do they not have a cuddle up?)

But you still love me, right? ;)

Think about this:

In 1995, Coney Island wanted to build a wood coaster, and at that time, Americana was up for sale. Instead of buying just a coaster, they bought the whole park.

Perhaps they still want that wood coaster, even though they felt that Americana wasen't worth keeping. *** Edited 5/11/2006 9:40:21 PM UTC by john peck***

Of course I still love you. That love transcends all, even your lack of enthusiasm for Nitro.

I've heard a lot of rumors about Coney wanting to build a wood coaster but nothing ever seems to come of that. It would be a perfect fit and probably one coaster that could possibly fill the empty void left by the Shooting Star.

Twin Grove could use a wood coaster but I would think they'd have a lot of other things to work on before building something that significant. I hear the park's infrastructure isn't up to the crowds that a big ride like that would bring. And AFAIK, the park does have a cuddle-up.

I was told by a Coney Island official that they would like a wooden coaster but they don't have the space due to Riverbend Amphitheater taking up so much room.
(although I think that if they wanted one bad enough, they could find a way).

Is this Twin Grove cuddle-up operating? Is it really a cuddle-up or just a crazy dazy??

I'm sure they could find a way to fit one in. Why not along the back of the parking lot? How much space does and out-and-back consume, especially if you build one with a steel structure (which is what the park should do considering all the flooding).

From what I've heard, the park has a full-size cuddle-up, not a smaller Crazy Dazy.

Screechin Eagle is one great coaster. Any park would be foolish to not want it and its not such an absurd idea to want to move a classic ride like this.

Eagle is by far my favorite wooden coaster in the state of Ohio.

And it doesn't take up THAT much room
